G1 to G4 Heart Throb ♥
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:21:41 AM »
This is my first G4 FBR. She's not perfect but I love her anyway ♥ I chipped her ear a couple times from my pliers that I use to get the needle in for rehairing. She also got some cracks in the paint on her back around her wings when I put her head back on from pushing it on. Any tips for getting the head back on without wrecking the paint job?

Here she is! G1 to G4 Heart Throb

She looks really cute! Great job!

I use a heat gun on the neck hole and gently stretch the hole with my hemostats. Then the head pops back on easier.

I think she looks lovely.

I was able dip the neck park (attached to the head) in boiling water briefly even with paint, but I also cut little notches in the inner neck ring so that not as much has to give way. As far as the bottom neck attached to the body I just made sure I smoothed around the plug and made sure it slipped easier back in.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments

I got the plug back into her body with no problems, it was just when I pushed her head down onto the plug it put pressure on her body and caused the cracks. I did cut some notches, next time I'll try heat too. Thanks for the suggestions.

I would suggest that you put the head on the plug first, that way if it gives you trouble you only damage the head. I think i held the head in one hand with my middle finger down the hair seam and the plug with pliers in the other

She turned out lovely as always Shy Violet!!

And I will share my secret with you! :)  When I have the head off and ready to pull out the hair, I take my Dremel and slightly widen the neck hole.  Makes things much easier to reassemble (and rehair!) and doesn't affect how well the head turns or sits!  I have my Dremel out at this point anyway because I feel like the tail hole is too small, so I make the tail hole bigger also.
