factory error boxes in the equestria girls line.
« on: November 05, 2013, 02:43:27 AM »
so, me and my girls were looking at the EG dolls at a local walmart the other day, and I spotted something odd. Twilight Sparkle was packaged in a Principal Celestia outer box! I ended up buying it, and me and my girls decided we would do some research and see if it might be worth something. I know the EG's have not been out too long, so don't know if something like this would have time to gain any value. I did look on ebay and found a seller that was selling a Celestia in a Twilight Sparkle box(the opposite of what we have), but that's the only thing I've been able to find on any factory errors. I did a search and found the thread that was posted here about someone finding a Rainbow Dash without her cutie mark, but nothing about box errors.

does anyone here know if something like this would be worth hanging onto for a while, or should I just go ahead and let my girls have her for Christmas like i'd originally planned??

thanks for any info you can give!

I've seen pictures of some Celestia EQG dolls with only a head! Two of them, side by side! No body at all. Just a head floating on the inside of the box like pastel pony person nightmare fuel.
From what I've heard the EQG dolls are REALLY prone to major factory errors.

Yes, there was a thread with a picture not too long ago...creepy! I've heard of mispackaging before...it happened in a few G1 ponies. You might want to use them as a benchmark for whether or not the mixup packaging toys are worth saving or not :)

I think there are a lot of quality issues with the EQ dolls- I think they probably rushed them out really fast.

Are there also errors with the G4 playsets that anyone else has noticed? I just checked over my eqd dolls and didn't see any errors, but I do see errors with my playsets

oh my goodness, that would be almost scary to see!! LOL

so if they are prone to errors, I just wonder if this would be an error worth holding onto. I would think a paint error would be worth more than a box error. I will most likely just let my girls have her come Christmas. I know when I was collecting Barbies years ago, a box error was worth some money.

If I saw these in stores I would buy them immediately lol. I've never even bought an equestria girls doll but it is hilarious and I want a million lol.

Dear old Headlesstia, I'll never get tired of that picture. Aside from her, and the fact that my deluxe Fluttershy came with an extra flower bracelet rattling around the bottom of her box, I haven't seen all that many box errors in the EQG line. There tends to be more errors with the dolls themselves - badly applied glitter, wonky paintjobs, hair not rooted correctly so big clumps come out when brushed, plugs rooted thinly so bald patches are evident, etc. And factory dirt. I saw a Celestia the other day at Big W who had thick dirt on her nose, lips and chin. I tried to take cellphone photos but they didn't turn out that great, it was really ugly and dark brown in real life. My dad commented that the princess had grown a beard.

On another note, you may have found Twilight labelled as Celestia, but was she upside down too?
