Pound Puppies-cleaning tips?
« on: October 17, 2013, 01:57:58 PM »
I recently fell in love with Pound Puppies again. I have some Xmas pups from a few years ago that I bought at Target(they had little Santa hats) that I have enjoyed. Today I bought a Rumple skins puppy-size pup at a thrift store in dark brown, he is so cute! I want more now so will keep an eye out when I go on my pony hunts.

Anyways ^.^ I need tips on cleaning him, he's a bit dirty. I'm kind of scared to put him in the washer. Anyone have luck with hand washing them? I heard that stuffed animals shouldn't go in the dryer. Any tips will be appreciated

I've always put my Pound Puppies into a pillowcase and tossed them in the washer.

This.  Put them in the pillowcase, tie it closed.  Hang them up to dry.  :)

I loved pound puppies as a kid! I have a couple from when I was little still; I've just never been able to part with them. :)

Nearly all my PP collection has been through a pillow case wash cycle, but eye paint can come off, so to be extra careful I'd make sure there is a double layer of fabric around the face or a flannel inside or something, and you wash it amongst towels or bedding or something to pad the washer out. I have Oxy bathed a couple of pups but I don't like squeezing the poor things dry as the stitching can pop on the 80s pups! On several of my pups the washing labels faded after a wash cycle too, so if it's a particularly good condition vintage pup, I now put them in a bag in the freezer for a while to kill any dust mites or whatever, then Febreez them.
