Odd hair on Baby Sea pony?
« on: October 15, 2013, 12:21:39 PM »
Hi all,

I recently got a baby sea pony in a small lot I bought, and her hair is kind of soft and stringy, almost like thread, rather than nylon. the seller said her hair was a bit odd but I just supposed it would be super dry/frizzy. Is this something that happens over time, or has someone done something to her hair? Maybe one to many times in the bath?

It seems fragile so I haven't tried to brush or wash it yet.  I'll post some pics as soon as my little girl goes to bed.  It's my first baby sea pony so I don't want to mess her up!

**Edit** Here are the photos showing the texture.  It's definitely original hair, as her head is still attached.

sound like the hair of one of the color change sea ponies.
their hair almost feels like silk strands.
i have one that i have yet to comb. don't have the courage for it.
you can check the colors of the pony against mylittlewiki to make sure though.
alot of the color change effects don't work anymore.
ones that do are def worth more though.

Oh, it's Wave Dancer   Should I check to see if she can still change, or do I risk damage?

I love finding out something new  :nerdy:  Thanks, everyone!

the color change with hot (warm) or cold water. so if you think you might wash her later it should be ok.
does her head come off? rust and mold are the biggest concerns of sea ponies. least in my mind.
*shudders*

but i think that's a pretty big concern for all ponies.

Yep, that's a Watercolor Baby!  :D  You can still wash & condition, just be very very careful when brushing.  You may want to wait until it almost dries and then tease the loose strands with a comb.

Such a cutie. The hair was originally much like normal pony hair but unfortunately exposure to environment and general time does not seem to treat this particular thermochromatic hair.

You will be fine to brush it and it should not break but it will be prone to a little tangling. As to damaging it if you try to change the colour, unfortunately when the hair is that condition it usually means the hair has broken down to such an extent that it wont change any more.

Congrats on adding such a lovely pony to your collection :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
