ARRG Writers Block
« on: October 11, 2013, 02:42:59 AM »
I have always been known to write stories in high school....I had horrible spelling and grammar and still do so I never showed them to anyone. I even wrote a web comic that I may want to bring out more....I just can not draw people worth a hoot. Even in college I loved to write....where many of those stores are I have no idea :blush: I am not an organize. As I graduated I had little to no time for writing or I felt my writing was nothing more then junk....but I want to write now. I have time to write now and I have nothing:( I used to be able to sit down and write for hours!!! now I can even get a paragraph down. Not even a short image.....ARG!!!

Any ideas on what I can do? Where do you get you inspiration and ideas?

What is NaNoWriMo? I have never heard of this??

I think it has something to do with national novel writing month in November? I'm sure melodys_angel has more info :)

Although I don't write text, I went to school for music and write music for a living. I find that when I have writer's block, the best thing is to go for quantity, not quality.

Just start writing, about absolutely anything, and don't judge or critique as you go. You want as many pages as possible. Even if you feel like nothing is happening on the page, your subconscious is working.

After a few days re-read what you've done. It may take more time (or less), but eventually you'll find a nugget or seed that will grow into something fantastic.

Hope this helps, and good luck!!
:biggrin:

Freewrite. Just sit down and write for a certain amount of a time - 30 minutes is a good starter - and see what you come up with. No judgment, no editing. Then do it again. You'll get into a groove soon enough.

NaNoWriMo= National Novel Writing Month.
What I do when I have writers block is doodle characters from the story, and usually take a nap. Helps me imagine what they'd be doing.

Try finding a different creative outlet for a while. If you can't write, paint, draw, play music, sculpt, sew, something. Find another way to be creative. It can help get out the clogged up expressions and open things up so you can write again. You could also try reading. That usually works too.
