My new little hammy friends!

Those of you who have me friended on FB know I recently lost little Aster a few weeks ago.

So.... After nightmares about looking for a new hamster (all of the hammies were evil hammies who hated me and spit and cursed little hammy curses every time I looked at them), hubby assured me we would find a nice sweet hammy like my Pix was. So today we went out and found just that hammy!!! Then we promptly turned around an left that hammy behind. The whole lot of them there had wet tail. We will not be going back there again. So, very upset we went off to look at the only place I'm willing to pet shop at all now (seeing as this new place is apparently awful). They only had 2 little Syrians, both long haired. So guy opens up cage to retrieve hammies and......BARRAGE OF HAMMY CURSES!!!!!! *face palm* Yeah.....We brought them both home. Apparently these two have a bit of a reputation. The worker handed the cashier the box and she says, "Awwwww for me? You shouldn't have!" And the worker says, "Yeah, it's the long hairs!" and the other girl says, "Oh no thank you!" LOL Meet Reeve (the little golden) and Jaymee (the little cream).

Reeve; he's actually rather sweet. A little shy but I can pet him and he doesn't freak out or run away. He's settling in fine and will probably be my little buddy in a few days.

Jaymee; this is the little guy who spits hammy curses every time he's looked at.You should have heard him in the box all the way home. He won't come out of his tube at the moment. In fact, he's already gone to sleep in it. He'll settle in and I'll work with him. He'll be fine in time and even if he isn't, that's ok. I don't mind evil hammies. He is less cursey and angry this morning at least but he still races to his tube when he's looked at.

Congratulations on your new little friends! I lost my hammy Max on 20th September. He was only 9 months, so I am still upset. I dont know why he died as he was not ill - just suddenly died

I used to have a long-haired Syrian a while back. His name was Roy, and I was so sad when he passed from old age. If I know anything about you, Kat, you're gonna have those hammies both loving you in a matter of days.

Hammy curses I can relate to that. When my sweet Stella passed away earlier this year I knew my next hammer would be a Winter White (tired of sick RCs) and Smudge cursed and spit at me too! But she eventually came around and is a warm, soft, loving pom-pom now Your hammies will be too, I'm sure Congrats on them!

When I was little my brother and I had a Syrian that looked just like your Jaymee, named.... Hamton. He lived to be almost seven (and was accidentally killed by one of my brothers friends ). I miss having hamsters.

They are so cute!   I love jaymee's coloring.  I had a hamster named peaches when I was little. He was so sweet.   I had just had surgery and my parents drove all around town trying to find me a hamster because that's all I kept asking for.  He ended up at this rundown little petshop that had a huge fish tank full of adult hamsters.  Of course they were all beat up.  Idiots.. Anyway I picked a Syrian who was missing half a ear.  He was screaming when the guy pulled him out of the tank.  My parents looked at me and said you are sure you want that one.  I said yep, him.

Got him home and pulled him out of the box.  Showed him he didn't have to be afraid anymore and he never ever tried to bite me.  I adored that hamster.  I never knew how old he was but he died I think a year or so after I got him. My dad found him and I remember crying for days.  They took me out to get a new hamster and I never had any luck after him getting a non biter. 

I had a huge set up of tubes and extra cages he was one spoiled hamster.  I can't have one now my dogs are terriers and they just get overly obnoxious because of there instincts to kill rodents.  Plus add in a new kitten my household pet limit is reached :p
