Got my guidebook today!

The book itself is nice, well made, and a good -basic- guide.   I do love the screen cloth, it's adorable!

I'm sorely disappointed in the lack of a regional pokedex though.  Not even a list with pictures.  :/  Also, once you defeat the elite four there is no more information.  I guess they want it to all be a surprise, but it kinda stinks to not know where to catch many of the legendaries.

Haven't gotten anything good from Wonder Trade except a two Japanese common Pokemon. I've basically been regifting a lot. How often do you get good stuff?
more bad than good, but think of it as opening a booster pack of cards with the hope of getting somethinggood/new. I think Wonder Trade is fun. :3

they dont put PokeDex stuff in the main guides anymore. They save it for the eventual PokeDex/Pokemon guide they will make later on. So pretty much that is when you'll likely find what stuff happens after the Elite 4. :(
Thank you so much for the adoptable, Corona! :D

There is a regional list dex in the Black and White books.  (I have these books.) So, I was expecting the same with this one.  Just basically a list with pictures and locations is all I expected, but it's not there.

In about an hour, I've received about 2-3 'mons that I've been interested in.
Having said that, some people have been lucky enough to find legendaries/shinies through it!

I am guessing they really wanted us to be finding things out on our own for a while for this generation.
I go to Serebii.net for info on the game. They've been mentioning post Elite 4 stuff, and other things.

I found my first ever wild shiny pokemon  I think it's more amazing that I just only found my first one, with all the years I've played pokemon... That is, I've gotten some via the breeding methods, but not just finding one in the wild :--) A shiny amoongus!

congrats! :D in this game, does it tell you right away that it's a shiny when you see it in battle (color combo excluded)?
I haven't caught/hatched a shiny yet in this game, but I know in Soul Silver, I had caught a wild HootHoot within the first hour of me playing the game. Felt it was either a good or a bad omen. xD

It didn't say it was shiny, but the sparkles are very noticeable in this game :--)

Made my own FC banner for X/Y with the same size as the AC ones. Better than the tiny text in my sig.

Congrats! Shinies are the best to have. I'm trying to breed a white shiny Fennekin.

I got it today! I named my girl  Naomi.

I'm not sure about the kids you start out with. Dancer's a dink, Calem is way too into being my neighbour, I feel unholy glee at crushing Trevor, and true story about the girl:

We were watching the fireworks together and she was all 'this is special to me because I am watching them with you, Naomi. I want us to be good friends"

And I was honest to god thinking 'Who ARE you? I forgot again'

Frogadier is amazing, also. I took him and Charmander as my starters.

Woo! Congrats! :D I'd like to get my hands on a shiny Swirlix if I can.

@Rosencrantz - Yeah, I was thinking the same thing at that part. I'm not too fond of any of the 'friends' in this game unfortunately. Except maybe Tierno.

EXACTLY!  And about the unholy glee, everyone knows the best part of Pokémon is beating up little kids' pets and taking their money, so it's only natural to feel happy when beating a lesser trainer.  ;)

My own true story about the fireworks with the other girl:  When she did her whole "This is special because we're together" thing, my first thought was, "Are you coming on to me? I've known you all of 5 minutes.  Geez, buy a girl a drink first."
