are sparkle ponies immune to cancer?
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:13:02 PM »
I've got 10 sparkle ponies in total and although a couple of doubles have very slightly faded (twinkler and sky rocket) I have noticed that none of them have any trace of age spots or cancer.
Are they immune or just not as susceptible to plastic breakdown? Does anyone else have one with age spots they can show?
Thank you :)

Not as susceptible I think. Over the years I can't think of many, if any, G1s that have not turned up with some kind of age mark or certainly some kind of plastic break down. The plastic in a sparkle pony is a little different of course than other ponies. So unfortunately age marks probably exist but just dont show in quite the same way.

I always assumed Sparkle ponies were made out of some kind of resin. Am I wrong?

Because I'm pretty sure Resin holds up really well for years upon years upon years.

I have never had a sparkle pony with cancer.

In fact, thinking about it, my sparkle ponies are all mint! Compared to others....they have aged very well!

No its the same kind of plastic as regular ponies just a transparent mix [hence the slightly different]. Its not resin.

Hrm, come to think of it, I've never seen a Sparkle pony with cancer. Same with the Glow n' Shows, which I think are made up of the same kind of plastic as Sparkles.

If I were any good at chemistry, I'd dedicate my life's work into creating a formula that would prevent age spots/cancer in all ponies. Then get a Pony Peace Prize.

I'd vote for you! And if it wasn't a voting system, I'd do what I could to change the system so that I could vote for you. A cancer-free pony in every home! :?

Er... yeah, the very few Sparkle and Glow n Show ponies I have, their bodies are all lovely. *looks affectionately at Napper, who only just arrived*

Now I think about it yes my glow and show ponies are mark free too.

None of mine are sticky, though I think a couple that are harder than the others but I'm not 100% if that's how they have always been as these are new additions I got a couple of months ago. The others apart from mo star hopper are from my childhood.

Yes. Thats them breaking down unfortunately and they also have a terrible tendency to discolour over time. Unfortunately plastic just breaks down in different ways :(

And I vote for Sandra for the Pony Peace Prize when she cures all the plastic ponies of the world!

Yes I think so. I've been lucky so far not to get one that is sticky!
