Are there Scandinavian porcelain ponies?
« on: September 30, 2013, 09:25:33 AM »
I know the my little pony G1 porcelain were made in US
But wiki is the only place I can seem to locate information on these
Wiki doesn't have a UK checklist of who was made
So I have no clue
Now I hear some were made Scandanivian?
Is there a good web page on these anywhere?

Do you mean the Euro versions? They are the same just a little different in colour. The Euro singles are darker and there finish is generally considered poorer.

As for exclusives I can only think of 2 - Majesty and Buttons.

Nope I mean Scandanavian ones
Someone of facebook in community said the Scandanavian ones were even harder to find leading me to think there are more then the 2 versions gosh I feel so confused now
I just got Buttons but don't know how to find these too well the UK ones

I hope a Scandinavian member or the person on facebook can clarify for you :) I cannot think of any actual "Scandinavian exclusives". The Euro porcelains did have a limited country release and their largest market was Scandinavia. So I would wonder if the person did not mean the Euro releases as being one in the same.

There are Scandinavian versions of Cotton Candy, Applejack, Baby Moondancer, and Firefly, as well as the two already mentioned, Buttons and Majesty.  At least, when I was actively buying them, the members I bought them from assured me that's where they originated from.  They're the same as the ones hathorcat mentions.  Buttons and Majesty were the only "exclusive" ones, since they didn't have US counterparts.

As stated, yes, their quality is much poorer, as it looks like their molds have been badly taken from the US ones.  Buttons and Firefly are especially hideous.  :)

I don't think porcelains were sold in the UK, so no. Scandinavian is more like saying European in this sense.

I think as LadyG says its how people refer to things. A lot of people call Europe released ponies UK ponies which is not accurate. Heck its not even accurate calling them Euro releases because many got a release in Australia/NZ as well.

For me I just have always carried that on and called the these Euro porcelain - so if I am calling them Euro someone else is calling them Scandinavian - all the same thing. I am sure they did get a release outside of Scandinavia [not the UK]; but the vast majority of people who have had them or bought them seem to have done so from there so I could simply be remembering incorrectly.

Euro/Scandinavian would be the same thing, yes.  :)  I've never seen a picture of their packaging (if they had any to begin with) to hint at their origin, but all the ones I've bought came from Scandinavia.  It makes sense that they would have been released to a wider market in Europe though, even if Scandinavia is their area of origin.

I really need to submit pictures of the remaining porcelains to the Wiki.  No one should be denied the horrific splendor that is a Euro porcelain.

Oh ok
I sorry it's just easier to go short so I say UK like I say US
Anywho... I love how you use the word "horrific"
I got a buttons recently and she is my only non US
I would love it if Wiki were more up to date so thanks
Who doesn't get an obsession with these once you see one in person?!
