Pony country ID please. (Mexican Starshine, tail and PC question)
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:08:06 PM »
I bought a lot of 2 sad looking ponies off eBay because I wanted one as a possible rehair candidate. The other was a sad looking Starshine but I noticed her eyelashes looked different and I wondered if she was maybe Italian or something. I've never seen a nirvana pony in person but it seems to me the eyes always give it away in photos.

The lot arrived today and she has no markings on her feet at all.
So I'd like any info you may have about where she's from and her possible value, please.

That site isn't working properly for me on my ipad. I'll have to try later on the computer. Thanks for the link though.

I know she's not in great shape. Does she have much value?
I'm going to gently try and clean her up a bit.

Mexican Starshine is a lovely girl! I just bought one myself...be careful cleaning her as her symbol comes of VERY easily. I found that out the hard way! She'll clean up nicely, though...Mexicans always seem to. I'm not sure of her value...I paid $10 for mine if that helps. I think another arena member paid close to $30 for one at the same time from the same seller, but her symbols were very dark and pronounced. Apparently they're more often found with the faded or even "ghost" symbols. Yours is very pretty!

Thanks SeashellbBubbles!

Is it normal for the tail to be put together like this?

yep completely normal : ) most nirvanas have tail clamps rather than washers like the standard ponies

Yes, indeed! The string wierded me out the first time I saw it, but it's completely normal for a Mexican. Looks like yours is a lot cleaner inside than mine was, though

:) she is Mexican and her tail washer is perfectly normal for a Mexican pony. You can use the style of the tail washer to tell you the county a pony was made by ;)

I would value around $10-15 and Mexican ponies clean up really well and the hair responds to conditioning and straightening :)

Sadly Starshine is very prone to having a faded symbol.

I washed and conditioned her hair and its nice and silky. Almost feels as nice as new Dollyhair. She does have some pen marks on her face so I covered her eyes and symbols and hair and am going to attempt sun fading her.
After that I suppose she'll be up for sale. :)
