Turns out they're not all black! According to eBay pics, in a set of 24 there are:

• 3 Muffin Pony, two black and one normal (links below)
• 3 Pinkie Pie, two black and one normal
  
• 3 Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon-3, two black and one normal
• 3 Rainbow Dash, two black and one normal
  
• 3 Time Turner/Doctor Hooves, two black and one normal
  
• 2 Octavia Melody, black
  
• 2 Bon Bon/Sweetie Drops, black
  
• 2 Spitfire, black
  
• 2 Lyra Heartstrings, black
  
• 1 Fluttershy, black

Oh wow more types than we thought then! I've pretty much decided to stick with the big funko's though. Now I'm a little glad for it given all the different variations. These do look really neat though. I like the black and especially the gitd ones are cool looking.

Like in the pic, but multiply all the black versions by two except for Fluttershy's. I really don't know where the GID versions come into it at this point. Conceivably they might be 1/24 again, so you'd need 576 random figures to get both of them? Either that or the idea was scrapped entirely and the close-up photos are just from a prototype from the time of the old box design, before so many people got sad about the ponies not having their regular skintones.

Interesting...guess once they hit shelves we can probably get a straight answer from Funko on their site as to what exactly is available.

I want to say that Gypsy is selling this product line on her website...but I am not certain as to whether she will be selling them randomly or with the knowledge of which pony is which. Maybe pm her?
