Pony Wear variations
« on: September 14, 2013, 07:10:32 PM »
How common are Pony Wear variations? I feel they would be rather common... more common than even pony variations, but I guess I haven't really take the time to look at all that much Pony Wear side by side...

I just happened to notice these...

The baby Jumper outfit - I have one that has purple dots and one that has bright blue dots. I definitely don't think this is fading because the pinks are exactly the same hue (as are all the other dots)...

And then the baby leggings from Prima Ballerina, they're different materials, one is more fuzzy, one is more spandex-y, the grains are going different directions...

Anyone have any other variations to share? Or any info on these? Just different batches I suppose, whatever similar material they could find basically?

The leggings are for Prima ballerina (fuzzy) and BBSOD for the fabric one.

Possibly a foreign variant for the blue dot overalls? In my trade box I have 4 purples and 1 blue (It is more of a royal blue than your turquoise/ aqua shade.)...  I wonder what my collection one is- looks like I need to add the variant one to my collection!

I think a good project for tomorrow (..well today when the sunrises...) will be to add to this thread with other variant ponywear... or would you rather I start my own thread?

For now I have variant PONY ROYAL cape in the random ponywear listing in my e-bay sale link in my siggy.

I love new variant discoveries!

Okay thanks for the legging clarification. After I started looking at them I started to wonder if they weren't from another set - as I did get the skirt from the BBSoD in the "Prima Ballerina" bag I just got, which is where the darker, fabric leggings were also from...

Please do post here, I'd love to see your vars. I haven't checked any of mine against the extras I have, the jumper just stood out to me as being different!

A lot of it is dependant on where the sets were released. The pony wear which has variations tends to be the sets which were also released in Euro/UK. There are also variations in Hearts & Candy, Scarlet Sensation, Lights Camera Action and Sweetness 'n Lace.

So, Cat - you're in Scotland, overseas there, lol , do you have the baby pony jumper by chance? And if so, what color are you dots?

(Or anyone in the UK/Canada - outside the US? Or even in, lmao)

Alas my pony overalls are from the US :P

However I dragged my pony wear notes out to see if I had an answer on this :) The purple dots are from the second release of this set and the blue dots are from the first release of this set.

Niiiice! Thanks Cat! Anything else different between the two releases? Hue or shoes or... hat or anything that you notice? I just wonder if (because I'm crazy like this) I need to get a complete 2nd outfit to satisfy myself, or if I can just keep the two jumpers and have a single hat/shoes/pal, etc...

I just got a set of the overalls from the Eastern Seaboard here in Canada...she had them her whole life, so it's a 2 owner deal (her and me) and her dots are...navy blue!? Lol...hmm, definately not as aqua as yours, Shiney!

A bunch of the baby pony wear had 2 releases in the US. I think they were first sold in Year 4 (since they had flat stickers), and again in Year 5. The Year 5 set contained the elephant/party dress pair and lion/sleep wear pair in addition to the 4 pairs available in the previous year. My guess us that the difference in the polka dot fabric is from the 2 different years that outfit was released. :bigups:

Sorry guys I think I caught a 6 hour flu.... does such a thing exist?

Anyway I am back and feel much better!

I don't think I'll get around to taking all the photos I need to of variations.

This is a not so good photo- maybe I will try more later

Mimic  wears a BLUE saddle pad (I have NEVER seen another one) & magenta head band
Milkyway wears the traditional PURPLE and pink bands I have different shaded pink wheels, but I'm going to file those as aging/fading.

Nope nothing else different at all - just the cloth pattern.
