I was interviewed about my collection!
« on: September 05, 2013, 01:53:57 PM »
I was featured this week on Into The Spotlight with Osaka Jack, and we talked about all kinds of things but specifically my pony collecting habits and my new role as merchandise reporter for Everfree News.

You can check it out on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdByrA-3EaA

If you are one of the folks with a collection larger than mine, please post so I can commit your names to memory! I know you are out there! I felt bad that the only one I could remember during the interview was Summer Hayes.

The Baby Medley custom on display for most of the video was made for me by Nightlight many years ago. I lost all my cartoon images of my pony persona so I took a picture of the custom and he used that instead.

That was a great interview... I listened to the whole thing while I was cleaning ponies this morning! Thoroughly ponified day so far indeed.

Congrats on the interview!  :) what fun!

I shy away from interviews...with nearly 1,500 ponies (maybe more by now) my herd is impressive but to an interviewer its borderline crazy so I don't participate in them :)

My current count is 1587 but it's Ponycon this weekend so I'm hoping to increase that! :P

I've had interviews about my collection, some very good and some that were twisted to a more negative tone. I don't regret doing them but I doubt I'd do it again :)

Wow you have a lot of ponies!! Congrats on your new role too!
That was a good interview, had me giggling. :D
I also wanted to comment on the "vegetarians once removed". I have not heard of that group or whatever that is, it may be a joke.... but I do understand the reasoning behind eating animals that are only vegetarians. I only eat vegetarians... it does sound funny, but it has to do with the rendering of animal carcasses for the use in feed.  The "mad cow" disease situation is a great example of this reasoning.

Now I'm thinking there are probably more than 4 people with collections larger than mine. I thought it was strange that I didn't see more during polls!

Also, I post more pony-related stuff to Twitter than I do here if anyone is interested. I'd love to keep in touch with other collectors! https://twitter.com/caycifish

Maybe it depends how you class a large collection? Total number of ponies, total value of collection, how complete a collection is?

I was just looking at total number of ponies, not counting doubles. Value fluctuates wildly, and judging on "completeness" doesn't seem fair as different people have different collecting goals.

I don't know how you count a collection either? I am under 13 needed for Us collection, I don't have all the sea ponies yet so perhaps that makes my US count needed go up but to me sea ponies are a collection in their own. I have a lot of UK and a handful of nirvana, then I have totes of doubles...I have some merchandise etc including porcelain so what I decide to display fills an entire wall not counting the stuff hanging up...how does one begin to count and don't ask me what I have in other generations because I have that too...and plush and I could go on and on...
