Random pony discoveries... show and tell!

Okay, I don't have my "show" ready for my own personal ponies... but I thought this would be a fun thread to like... well, how do I explain...

Ever gone into your pony box or looked at your pony shelf when you've gotten a double... and you go to look at it and realize... something crazy about either it or the one you had? Found you had something "rarer" than you expected? Found you had a fakie?

So, this happened to me recently which is what brought this to mind.

I recently bought a Baby Fancy Pants Splashes (using mylittlewiki's photos because I haven't take any of my own yet):

(Who I wish had the bow, lol...) but anyway...

So I spa her up and take her to my bin of baby ponies, and look for my Baby Splashes... to my surprise, I pull out THIS:

The one I've had for over a decade is apparently the UK/Euro release from China... and not the Thailand version released in the US.

I was pretty excited, lol... I love variations and such.

So I just thought I'd share that. Anyone else have any cool (or maybe not so cool? - e.g., I bought an "unfinished Argie MLP" only to find out it was an unfinished Argie FAKIE MLP...) stories to share about discoveries you didn't even realize you had?!

Hmm - one time I went to the fair with a a couple of Lil' Pockets  - only to realize that they both had different color Blues in their hair.

Another time - was cleaning a bunch of spare Cherries Jubilees only to discover the one that I first thought had a hair cut - was indeed a UK Cherries Jubilee and her hair was supposed to be that way.

And I have duplicates of most of the BBE ponies because of the larger smaller symbol variations.

Oh and the version of Megan that comes wearing Bloomers!

Well when I was first collecting I hd many a pony which I thought were Argentinian rarities only to find they were fakies

Many years ago I thought I had two different versions of Cloud Puff. Turns out, she's just susceptible to regrind and sometimes turns pink. lol!

Wait, she's supposed to be that purple!?!  Wow, I'm used to seeing her all pink! lol

She is gorgeous all pink!   that's when I don't mind regrind, if its quite even like that!

My first adult Sea Pony was Wavedancer, and upon closer examination I realized that she was the thin-haired variant discussed here, under "Hair Thickness Variations."

I don't really think that this variation is that important to a lot of collectors, but I was a new collector at the time and just so excited to have found something that was a little less than common!

I don't have pics, but I have been collecting since I was 10-11, and I took a long break and then picked it back up in my early 20s.  Well, I went digging around in my old house and discovered a container filled to the brim with a bunch of rare ponies I forgot I had.  There was Scribbles and Dabble and others.  It was GREAT!

WOW! That is just weird, but I still see the purple in the wings on the pink one.

Well I recently bought a lot of 10 ponies off ebay. As with most lots it came with a standard peachy. So I was cleaning up the ponies and deciding which ones I would keep and which ones I would sell at ponycon when I realised that peachy was the flat foot version. I was so pleased this sort of thing doesn't usually happen to me. And she completed my flat foots

I had been collecting for more years than I will admit to before I discovered that Dance and Prance ponies are supposed to "dance" when you wind them up and leave them on a flat table. *head desk*

Yep, she's supposed to be purple! Crazy, right? I definitely like her better in pink, though. ^-^

WOW! That is just weird, but I still see the purple in the wings on the pink one.

Yep, the plastic that the wing mechanism is made from is different than the actual pony, so it has stayed completely purple.
