Ebay Frustration!
« on: August 19, 2013, 08:58:16 AM »
I sold this lot:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-My-Little-Pony-Big-Lot-Of-Accessories-No-Reserve-/271250936419?pt=TV_Movie_Character_Toys_US&hash=item3f27d0d263

as well as another lot. It did not sell for very much. Today I get this email"

"I was really disappointed to find that both the saddles from this listing are broken. My 7 YO purchased these with her own money and she choose this listing because she wanted saddles for her ponies. She came to me sobbing this morning when she realized that neither of the saddles will fasten. I see that the listing said as-is, but I thought noticeable damage to the saddles, like the crack the picture frame, would have been mentioned."

You can clearly see in the auction that the pink saddle has no fastener. And I know for a fact that the purple one did work because I had to remove it from a pony to put in the auction. It does state in the auction that lot is sold as-0is. What if any recourse do I have? I sell a lot of stuff on ebay and I need to keep my stats.

Do you by chance have any extra saddles you could send as replacements? If so you could offer to send them to her. If not, if it were me I would probably just tell her to send them back for a refund. It's not worth arguing such a small thing that could end up hurting your feedback.

Very nice of PonyLady and Tula to suggest such a thing. . .

Especially when the buyer is being so rude.  Really, accidents happen, and it sounds like the buyer didn't even check the items over to make sure they were working.  Just gave them to the kid, and given how brittle the plastic can get. . .  It doesn't take much to break them.  I just, I hate the tone in the buyer's message, and it's all over a few dollars for VINTAGE collectibles that are in AS-IS condition.  I mean, I would be much more willing to help her out and work with her if she had been polite.

Thanks for your kind offers, it means a lot. I think I will wait and see if she replies to me and go from there.

Omg what a piece of work. she negged me saying "Broken Pieces (not from shipping) not worth time/costs to send back" she didn't even ASK to send them back! Please add this person to your blocked list as I am now doing, gbradfordsmith. If you check out her feedback she leaves there are lots of negs. Now I am very upset, don't want this to affect my stats.

Piece of work indeed!  What the heck?!  That's ridiculous.  For one thing, what kind of person gives their kids G1, that are now COLLECTIBLES, and are no longer NEW?!  and then expects perfection?  This is exactly why I only sell Ponies on the arena.  Nope, no way on ebay.

Sorry to hear she negged you, that's awful.  :/  :hugs:

Ugh! thats disgusting behaviour from your buyer. Its even more annoying that she behaved that way after everyones kind offers to send replacement saddles too     I think most of us  definitely would not want to deal with this person. Thank you for adding her ID
Did you do a feedback follow up comment? if not then add one to say what happened and that you would have replaced the items if the buyer had contacted you.  Keep it polite and factual. A lot of people check these comments when they check the negs- and how someone responds to the neg can make a difference .

Pardon my ignorance, isn't it possible to contact ebay and try and get the negative removed? It's my understanding that she never even gave you a chance to make the situation right, or you offered and she declined. Ebay will look through her history and see that she has probably left 100+ negatives on other sellers, not including her history of neutrals.

I thought it was against ebay policy to not work out a solution prior to leaving feedback (or maybe that's just a common courtesy thing).

Either way it wouldn't hurt to try.

You could also ask her to return the item and revise her feedback (although I'm sure she'd still write something nasty)

So sorry that you had to deal with such a pain in the butt buyer

that is terrible.  Based on other feedback she has left she seems to think that anything vintage should still be in perfect condition.

As an aside, so everyone keeps saying that you can block buyers such as this one on ebay.  How do you actually do that?  I can't seem to find it.

Seems like a good idea! I know i (as a buyer) always read the follow up comments when one leaves a neg to a seller :)

You go to the account tab and then site preferences, buyer requirements
