Color Variants?
« on: August 16, 2013, 08:21:57 AM »
Who can tell me different G1 variant ponies?

For example I've heard of a pink Sprinkles.  Is there really a pink Sprinkles (like the color of FireFly?).  I know Sprinkles is a pinkish lavendar color but never seen a pink one.

Show me your variant beauties!

There are actually two releases of Sprinkles, which is why there are two different colors, in her case!  The lavender-y one was released with the playset initially, but years later she was re-released as a mail order pony along with Majesty, Lemon Drop, Baby Tiddly-winks, and Baby Half Note.  And the Sprinkles from that release was very much pink.

I don't have the original Sprinkles that came with the playset, but I do have the mail order exclusive one from my childhood and I can very much confirm she has always been a pink pony. :)

Those are awesome pix!  Makes me want to start singing "one of these ponies is not like the other-  one of these ponies does not belooong."

Challenging to figure out what variations might be due to factory coloring variation vs. color fading/leaching.

Ahahahaha! That's awesome. But yes, great pics! Thanks for sharing! This makes me want to be more aware of color variations when I'm looking at ponies I already have.

I do have a Peru Posey that has white hair and white flowers, but I don't think I have a picture of her right now... :(

A lot of colour variations are just simply down to batch differences or how ponies have aged [due to storage/environment] over the years or the natural fading/breakdown of plastic. In fact the bulk of minor differences are simply down to this. But there are some deliberate exceptions - pink Sprinkles and lavender Woosie are my favourites.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
