Caribbean Delight: to restore or not to restore?
« on: August 12, 2013, 03:55:22 PM »
I just found a Caribbean Delight today and I love her :)  As of right now I'm planning to keep her for my own collection, but plans sometimes change and ponies get culled from the herd.  She has definitely been played with...I can probably clean up her body pretty well with a Magic Eraser but she has a mane and tail cut.  Should I try to rehair her or not?  Also, I've never rehaired a G3 before and have heard that their heads are very hard to remove, is this true?

Yeah, many of the G3 wit glued heads are really hard to take it off, others don't but the early ones are more prone to have stubborn glue.

As for Caribbean, maybe you could try wit  common G3s first  ;)   , because of her rairity (even baity) she is HTF, and if the glue is too hard is easy to damage the pony, mostly when is the first time(s) doing it

It's not a buzz cut...the mane is slightly shorter than an early G1 mane and the tail is roughly normal pony length.  The ends are uneven and quite frizzy though.

I think it depends on your intentions :P

If you plan to keep her in your own collection and you would prefer she had her original long hair, then I would certainly vote to go ahead and re hair her. However, if you are planning on selling her I would probably offer her in the current condition [after cleaning her of course but without the rehair] first. And maybe even offering a rehair service on her if the new owner wishes?

She is not cheap, although not as expensive as she used to be, and some people prefer such a pony with original hair even if chopped.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

If it was me, I'd rehair her. She has fabulous flowing locks, so why not restore her?  You'll need a flat head screwdriver to get rid of the glue in her head. You probably will need some boiling water to get her head loose to begin with, and the screwdriver to help loosen things up... Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
