Hi everypony! I need some help with a Perfume Puff!

I was in a flea market today and spotted Lavender Lace! She is in great condition. Her mane and tail seem ok. They are tangled and had hairbands on them. I removed the bands but I need help with her hair. What should I do with it? I don't want to mess her up!

Congrats on finding her!  When I got my LL, who was in similar condition to yours, I shampooed and lightly conditioned her hair, then blotted it dry with a towel.  Seemed to do a pretty good job :)

Perfume Puffs can be brushed, if they are matted or have debris in the hair, I'd recommend it.  You will lose a bit of hair doing so, and it's a slow and careful process compared to brushing nylon, but it does improve their appearance dramatically.  Starting with a good conditioner is best.

I agree, a shampoo and condition are the best start.

As for brushing, yes, they can be brushed, but it's best to section it off and do it slowly from the tips of the hair down.  Don't use a big bristled hairbrush.  Use something with small, little bristles.  I'd suggest a teaser brush.  This is what I use on mine, when I get PP in, and even if I just need to fluff one out, I use the teaser brush.  You will lose a bit of material, but the fact you gain a lot of body, makes up for it.

I use something like this: [link removed ~ many thanks ~ hathorcat]

As others have said you can simply comb the hair - it will not straighten it or make it super frizzy. Only heating it and flattening it will straighten it.

However it can be brittle sometimes so I would recommend using a nice wide tooth metal comb and initially teasing the dreadlocks out before brushing it.

Yes you will loose some of the poofiness but it will still be pretty close to original.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
