Okay, so I got my second and third rehairs done. . .

My second one did not go so well.  I am thinking I should stick with perfume puff!  The dollyhair was miserable to work with to say the least, and I mauled poor Twinkler.  I could not root her hair thick enough, and even as thin as it is, her nds of plugs are almost completely cracked and broken through.  X_X  I discovered a better way much too late, and even then, blahhhh.  Used a t-pin for the whole of it, tried to stretch the holes but I fear a combination of punch needle and brittle sparkle plastic were not too good.  Poor Twinkler!

Then, I went back to the yarn and did miss Taffeta.  Taffeta, I think turned out well.  I tried some new things from my first yarn rehair, especially in the tail and I definitely preferred the method I used this time.  I haven't yet glued her, but will at some point.  I've also have bought a much sturdier punch needle.  When I did Moondust, I broke three.  This one has been wonderful, and it's smaller and easier.

I like Taffeta's hair! It's so long when you've got it brushed out - what brand of yarn did you use? I think Twinkler is cute, I mean, for a first try she looks dang good! My first try didn't even end up with hair... lol!

Thanks Sunshine!

I used just the normal red heart wally world brand stuff.  It's not the ideal brand because the fibers are short, so I basically unwound the fibers by hand, versus brushing them out and re-spinning them to get the length I got.

So it's like the stuff that's crimpy looking originally? I dunno, I really like the whole 80's crimped hair, big poof look. I LOVE the length on Taffeta too! You are so lucky to have had a Taffeta to rehair!!

They both look nice. I like Princess Taffeta. It suits her I think.

One tip on using Dollyhair- I keep a spray bottle on hand to dampen my hank every now and then. Helps me not end up with so many crazy hairs everywhere. Then I use the end of my re-root needle to pick up and separate my plug. I put the end of the needle under a plug amount of hair near the center of the hank, and with my hand on the opposite side holding the hank, I run the needle out to the end separating the plug. Then repeat on the other side. I usually lose less hair this way.

It's actually just the Super Saver Red Heart stuff.  The four-ply yarn?  I split the stuff all the way down and then pulled it apart and then re-spun it before turning it into big wefts of fluff.  And yes, I was!  I actually traded for her a few weeks past from WingsOfMasquerade, and she was a project-cabinet pony of her's, already hairless and ready to be rehaired.  :)

For the length on the tail, I got that by making two massive wefts of fluff and then carefully weaving the two ends together and wrapping them with normal thread, so instead of halving my length with the tail, I got the whole length from each weft, if that makes sense.

I need to find or buy a new flat iron, as I want to try at least one flatironed.  The only thing with mine, and I don't know how anyone else's perfume puff rehairs are ( as I've never been able to molest a non-original one, hahaha ) but mine are unbrushable.  They're touchable and can even put up with a bit of a yank even without glue, but definitely not brushable.

Shady thanks everyone for the admiration.  :thanks: I might put her up for trades, since even rehaired se doesn't make the top 10 or even 20 of my favorites, and since I have a "good haired" one I don't see a reason to keep her... It was fun crafting her though.  ^.^

Don't be so hard on yourself, MiRaja. I think that Twinkler looks great!
