My next up on my docket is a Baby Firefly... she won't be so cute as that little rainbow baby haha How are you so bold to cut the hair so short Starflower? I am NOT a stylist, I can only trim up ends but I get really shaky if I try to cut ponies hair super short like factory style.

I can't wait to see your take on Baby Firefly.

I measure how much I need to make the hair that short (like factory length). For that length I usually cut the plug at the twist tie (so half a hank length) then cut the cut plug in half hahaha if that makes sense. So I can get two hair plugs from half the hank length.

Although if I do need to cut hair I cut across to about the length I want then hold the scissors pretty much straight up and cut like that so different hairs get a little bit different length, that helps with the natural look.

I have a few with glue drying that I'm quite excited about. Can wait to share

Ahhh yes I started to cut shorter hair to make forelocks instead of cutting it after, but I haven't been brave enough to cut like only 8" of hair or whatnot, hahah, I'm sure it makes the hanks last a LOT longer. I'm a half hank length girl, lol! HAIR SO LONG!

Yeah, it's better to cut the hair to length before using it. If I want factory type length then I hold the hair at the top of the pony's head and see how long I want it, then cut it off at that length. Gets a much more natural look than trying to cut it afterwards. And I trim the same way as mentioned with the scissors straight up and down.
