So, in life they say you should take risks, yes?

I took a risk for the first time in a long time by buying a lot on eBay. Two ponies were very very high on my wantlist, so I took the plunge and got both very very cheap. The one I have the dilemma with, is one that I believed would come without a tail, since it seemed impossible from the listing picture for it to be hiding underneath her, (which it obviously was!) She's beautiful, but..... unbeknowingly, she's covered in staining mould. I've beautified her as best I can, full body in out scrub, hair conditioned, tail rust removed best as possible, replacement washer from my plumbing box, and still, I can't remove this darned outer mould! I've put disinfectant inside and scrubbed hard to prevent returning mould, and I've fixed her up as best I can. Normally, I cannot stand mould and won't keep ponies like this, but this girl, has been on my wishlist a while now, (a sudden grail) and I can't bear to part with her, but want to fix her. So, any suggestions? I don't have acetone lying around, nor spot cream, but I do have raw bleach. I'm just frightened the plasticiser will break down, or her symbols will go. The photo is of the most inconspicuous area with the least of the problem, the mould marks on her bum and near her symbols, are double in size and in quantity.

I'll take any suggestions gratefully!
Thank you!

I've never handled mold before... I've been trying to look it up. Have you tried a magic eraser? If that does nothing... would sunfading do anything? She looks kind of purpley, so maybe that's not an option...

I hope you can get her all fixed up! :(

It's the UK cookery pony called Sweet Delight. Oh I hope someone has more ideas :( I've run out of them!
Thank you PP, I will think about it. But I have never had any luck with magic erasers at all. I paid over £7 to get them to the Uk and they did nothing :( sigh.

You can sunfade mold stains pretty quickly and easily. I think I've even done it in the winter. That's what I'd try next.

This. She looks like a good sunfading candidate. I'd give it a shot. Those stains look like they'd fade out nicely.

I agree to try the sun fading. A manky mouldy Peachy with a mohawk who is part of my daughter's play collection has sunfaded co-incidently by just being left on her windowsill during the UK heatwave!

I've soaked many of my ponies in bleach/water combo to kill any possible mold, never have tried it straight on a pony. However in this case I would wonder if acetone would possibly lighten the spotting. I'd go with what everyone else is suggesting and give the sunfading a try since other conventional cleaning methods have not worked. The only thing I have not had success sunfading is yellow highlighter and cancer (lol)...

My Sweet Delight is pretty solid. She has quite hard plastic with few pores, and her hair is the newer silky nylon used on later g1s.

I would bet you any money she can tolerate bleach and a slightly cooled kettle of hot water.

She's outside sunbathing ;) I know this will work since a nirvana I own of Asimilar share of pink was sunburned by me covering her paintwork with black electricians tape. By removing it and leaving her in my windowsill for three days, the sunburn is gone entirely and its back to pink! Amazing stuff!

Its not the mould which you are fading its the stain left behind by the mould. Does that make sense? :P
