UK Ponycon charity auction custom pony 'Roses'

This year, the theme for the Ponycon charity auction was 'UK' as it's the 10th anniversary of Ponycon *woo*

I thought I would try to be different, as you do, and was going to do someting themed on an 'English Country Garden'. My knowledge of traditional English flowers being small (I don't like gardening LOL) I was Googling for English flowers when I spotted an image of painted roses, those being traditional to English canal boat art.

I instantly stopped looking at real flowers and started to loook for more canal art instead. The bright colours in the paintings were just screaming at me to be re-created, and so I would now like to present 'Roses' to you all.

She is one of my beady ponies, of course (when do I ever do anything else any more?). The rose design was painted onto her and then followed as closely as possible with the bead pattern. I've used five colours of nylon hair from My Little Customs to re hair her.

My only grouch is the hair >< She must have ruffled it while in transit to the seller. However!

They're threaded onto sewing cotton ^^ Each bead is threaded at least once - it saves them dropping off in their hundreds if the pony gets knocked over.

She took about six weeks, including putting the hair in. I generally only get about two hours working time each day, as I also have an almost 18 month old daughter shooting about the place like a rocket *g* If not for that, I could probably reduce the working time by half at least! It's the patterns that take the most time really, if I was just doing a single colour I could thread and glue at speed. But I have to make sure I thread the right amount of beads, stop, change colour, put on two beads, change colour, thread one bead, etc etc. That takes up the time ^^ the last beady pony I did was a commission for somebody here, and that was a re-creation of a painting, which took so long you wouldn't believe......
