1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Get in time machine.
3. Travel to the year 1897.
4. Book passage to Skagway, Alaska.
5. Be sure to have a ton of survival gear. Yes, a whole ton.
6. Watch out for Soapy Smith - he's quite a tricky con man.
7. Climb the Chilkoot Trail. Multiple times, since you have to get your ton of gear from Skagway to the Klondike. You also better have a lot of food and hopefully several horses since many people die on this trail.

login8. Get to the Klondike and get a gold claim.
9. Find gold. You probably won't need much.
10. Offer to trade gold for sourdough starter from one of the other sourdoughs there at the Klondike gold rush.
11. Actually, see if you have enough gold to buy a dog sled team as well.
12. DEFINITELY get some flour from this era, because this was before wheat was genetically tampered, causing it to become destructive to all mankind and causing Celiac disease to many. If you don't get the flour, your whole trip will be for naught.
13. Mix the flour, the sourdough starter, and somehow figure out how to keep it warm as your travel on your (hopefully) dog sled back to the Chilkoot.
14. When you get back to Skagway, book passage back to your well-hidden time machine.
15. Take time machine back to your era and house.
16. Put milk, butter, salt and sugar into batter.
17. Pat into dough.
18. Put dough on slightly greased loaf pan.
19. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350° F and bake an additional 30 to 40 minutes (baking time varies according to your oven and your personal taste--some like a darker crustier bread than others).
20. Remove loaf from oven and brush the top lightly with melted butter; turn loaf out of the pan and cool on wire rack.
NOTE: be sure to get your own time machine because mine is not to be lent out.
