I was watching it for fun, and well... am I the only one completely baffled by the price it went for, or am I completely missing some rare ooak pony here? I think not... I'm inclined to think this is a bidding war that got waaaaaay out of hand.

To be honest, when I saw it was set to private auction, the first thought I had was shill bidding.

  hmm nah I don't think it's the princesses none are variants... Maybe it's blueberry basket, night glider  and the other USA pony still I think it's a high price so dunno,

Well, I don't know if it's worth THAT much, but the ponies all look like they're in good condition. And there is 50 of 'em. Maybe the price is nearly accurate.

I also noticed this when it was only £121 which I thought was maybe a bit overpriced. Maybe I'm a cheap skate. I thought it might be the flower pony who's name I forget all the time. Mostly because I rarely see her or the other two from that set.

When I saw the final price just now I was like  and nearly fell off the bed

There ARE some sought-after/popular ponies in there, but I still think that's kind of ridiculous to me. But maybe I'm just really cheap as well.

The only I can think are the princesses and CP Bow-tie. But even then that's still overpaying!

Possibly accurate... There were the Princesses, QB, Tex, a Merry-Go-Round, and that purple/pink one with the pink hair and blue flower-ribbon markings. And 42 other decent looking ponies with maybe only just the one fakie/Cabbage Patch in the mix. I personally wouldn't pay that much all at once but it may just be sticker shock...

The other thing that occurred to me is it might have been a US-based buyer. There were a lot of UK-exclusives so I can see how somebody would go a little bananas over it.

I'm just not sure the equivalent of $600 was warranted, though!

I think if you actually priced out each pony, that price is probably about right. It's around $460, so just under $10 a pony. A number of those ponies are worth more than that, some less, so it probably balances out. I think if each of those sold individually it could easily total that much, it's just that lots rarely sell for as much as the sum of their parts so it seems like a lot.

hrm, yeah, when you price each pony individually, it does sound close to the average price for each one...

I guess I'm just still getting used to everyone and their cat being mlp collectors today, ponies just seem pricier now than before due to high demand ;

I guess by average price per pony it's just about on the mark,  but the whole point of buying lots is to get them cheaper, right? Clearly I'm a cheap-a*** too!
