My only suggestion is bags/purses.  Personally, when I cosplay, I try and work in bags or some sort of function storage (so I can at least keep a few dollars, my debit card and ID on me).  Applejack would look cute with a smaller brown leather-look messenger-type bag.  For Twilight Sparkle, if you didn't feel like carrying around a book, a book bag (actually book shaped-purse) would be super cute.

I actually really love this idea!  Especially since the girls in the show on a couple of occassions have doned little saddlebags/sachels with their cutie marks on them when going on adventures or what not.  So it's kind of like doing that but when a twist and it's not something I see often in cosplays of the girls.

@ Sailorstitch -  Ain't that the truth.  The amount of comfortable shoes versus ridiculous shoes that kill my feet while cosplaying is easily 10% or less.
