Does anyone here have an etsy account where you sell things?  I was thinking it might be a good place to sell things instead of ebay.  Does it work well?

I have! I haven't had too many sales yet, but it's user-friendly enough.

I'm glad someone brought Etsy up!
@ Shiromisa, do you go through state sales tax as a seller? Or can anyone tell me how that works?

I thiiiiiiink you only have to pay sales tax if the buyer lives in the same state you do. God knows how I'd go about that if I got a Virginia buyer though. XD I'll cross that bridge if I come to it! Etsy does take a small percentage, though. On my newest sale of $32, it was about $1.30.

I have an etsy store, I've only had 1 sale so far :( However I think the fees are less than what ebay charges :) I guess it depends on what your selling, the pictures you take, descriptions, tags etc... Etsy is perfect for handmade and vintage sales

I prefer selling things on Etsy to eBay, definitely.  Less fees.

You can use paypal! It goes into an etsy account which is then deposited into your paypal, if I remember correctly..

Etsy's great- the listing is free (from what I recall)- they do take a percentage of your profit- but it is less than ebay.  Nearly everyone has paypal.

The downside- less exposure.  I had some toys up on Etsy (they have a vintage section) that sat for ages before I finally moved them to ebay where they sold immediately.   Etsy is way nicer, but Ebay is bigger.

I sell on both. I usually go with selling personal stuff like clothing and the like on Ebay, and stick to handmade stuff on Etsy. They both work well for me :)

I have a fairly full shop on Etsy, it's good because it generates its own traffic when you use good keywords. You just list it and can forget about it until it sells or expires in three months. Listing each item costs 20 cents, and Etsy takes a percentage. You can accept Paypal or credit card in your shop, but I have credit cards disabled in mine... I'm already being triple dipped with Etsy fees, Paypal fees, and income taxes (since making stuff is my job). If I had to take credit cards fees out of that too, I plain wouldn't be making any money.
