Pink Princess for Africa
« on: July 24, 2013, 02:36:38 AM »
Today I did a quick custom for a friend as a farewell present. She loves Africa and the colour pink, and her current sceenname is "princess", so this fakie was a perfect base for this project.

It also was my first attempt of perm boiling, the mane ended up okay-ish, the tail is a complete mess, and both mane and tail got rusty. Gaaaah. And this pony also has some other imperfections (the plastic and the acetone weren't best friends, and I couldn't find my eraser to get rid of my pencil sketch), so I put on some glitter. Hey, every princess loves glitter, right? :P
I experimented a bit with the eyes and I'm quite content with the three tiny highlights in addition to the big one. Execution is a whole different story, gotta hate shaky hands. At least I managed to draw the neon pink line around the cutie mark, that's more than I usually can hope for :P Hope you like her. Any ideas how to fix the tail? I don't want to risk boilng it again, I don't trust the varnish ...

She is lovely!  Her design is perfect for your friend!  This pony has fakie hair then?  Or did you reroot it?  In the picture the tail looks poofy and cute, but if it's bothering you you could get a cup of hot water and a comb and try to comb it down a bit?

How sweet! I love that you got her hair so beautifully fluffy-curly.

Thanks :) And yes, that's the mane the pony came with originally. I was happy that for once I could make use of the original colour and save myself a bunch of work! (And I have to admit I have no clue how to rehair this kind of fakie, it doesn't have holes for the mane, but the mane seems to be glued/sewn to a strip that is stuck inside the pony, the mane itself coming out through a long slit between the two halves ... don't know how describe this best.)

What a cute idea for your friend!  ^.^

Just as an aside, I think it's not a fakie but a MLP Happy Meal toy: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:Mcd-spring-treat.jpg

Yes, you're right, this is/was a happy meal toy! I had no clue, I got her in a trade. I don't know if they were available here in Germany, I don't go to fast food places a lot, I just now that Burger King recently had ones similar to g4 blindbags^^ Thanks for the information! I've seen ponies like this one once or twice on this board, but never got around to ask what they really are.
