Ummm....don't know for sure but I'd be scared about melting the wings. The steam/water could damage those fragile wings.

I've oxy cleaned the ponies themselves without the wings... however I would thing that the oxy bath would do something to the printing on the wings like it does with the coating on TEs..

I think the wings would be ruined, they are so delicate!

I agree with others that it might ruin the wings. :(
Also, I'm going to move this over to the pony corral. We have a lot of members experienced in cleaning and restoring G1 ponies and I think you'll get a wider range of responses over there. ;)

Okay great! Thanks for all of the responses everyone (and for moving my thread, pop-girl!). I had a feeling it would be a negatory on that one. I think I can take care of most of the marks with a toothbrush and some Kissoff ^.^ *runs off to make ponies pretty again*

oh so you can still use Oxy-clean on them? Awesome :) How do you use it, just apply it to the pony and scrub?

why would you want to? I never use oxy-clean - since I had it disastrously once melt the eyes off one of my Blossoms.

Oh my! I've had fabulous results with Oxy-Clean myself, that's why I was wanting to know if the wings would be safe. I had a Bow Tie with REALLY bad pin-dot grime, and the Oxy removed ALL of it without any scrubbing. I used it last night on a SS Paradise I'm de-flocking and the flocking wiped away clean with a toothbrush after a boil. So sad about your Blossom :( I wonder why it had such a disastrous effect on the eyes o.o

Personally I am with Ivy and I am not a fan of oxy, especially a boil oxy; although I have used them I am not a massive fan of many chemicals on ponies.

But I will agree that plenty of people use it with success. I think its like anything and if you use it with the awareness that it could go wrong at some point, then a lot of the time its worth that small risk.

Wingers have a kind of film over the plastic of their wings; in this case I would not use oxy on them - or at least I would not boil them in oxy.

Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
