Rash
« on: July 18, 2013, 10:29:25 AM »
I have a allergic reaction to a sun cream, all over my arms, neck face and wondered if anyone knew of anything to aid recovery. At the moment just using camomile lotion. Thanks x

Yea my doctor always had me use Benedryl but really you might want to go to the doctor and see if it lasts more than one day.

I was just realizing you are not in the USA, so I am not sure what you have for allergic reactions there.  Go to your nearest drug store and talk with a pharmacist on what is best.

Hugs I hate rashes.  I hope you feel better soon.  I was looking at an online UK pharmacy chemist shop and was jealous that it looks like you guys can get an allergy med over the counter there that we can't here in the USA.

Seeing a DR is a good idea if it is not going away

I would stick with the antihistamine tablets though as the once a day ones take a little time to build up in your system ;)

Feel better soon.

I'd say doctor!  Until that, stick to anti-histamines, benadryl or possibly loratadine (Trade name: Claratin)

Yea that sounds bad. Be sure to never use that again.  Good grief.  That reminds me of when I came down with poison ivy.  Worst rash nightmare of my life.

I hope it isn't so bad they give you prednisone or its UK equivalent. :( That stuff is nasty!

You could try soaking a washcloth in apple cider vinegar and wrapping it on the itchy area for a bit. It won't make the rash go away but it stops the itchiness for a little bit. The only downside is you'll reek of vinegar for a few hours. >_<

I would also try some cold aloe vera gel to help numb the rash so you don't scratch it.

I had this happen with sunscreen, and I swelled like a balloon before getting to the hospital.  It just kept getting worse and worse even though it just started out a little red and itchy.  My face started weeping fluid because the skin stretched so much and I thought my ears were going to break off they were so solid.  I had to get a steroid IV, then super benedryl (I can't remember the prescription, that's just what I called it) until it subsided.  Oh, and my skin peeled off like I had a bad chemical burn after.  I hope they can get it under control for you.  I can't wear anything that has an SPF now, including lipsticks.
