G1 Magnets?
« on: July 15, 2013, 06:09:38 AM »
Does anyone remember/have pics of a G1 magnet playset? I had this as a child and I can't seem to find one anywhere...

It was a magnet board that folded out (in thirds, I think) to about the size of a typical board game. The board itself was a picture of Dream Valley, green hills, sunny sky, maybe some trees and a river.

There were a number of magnets that came with the board ~ early G1 ponies, butterflies, I don't really remember much else.

Does anyone have this? Oh, also, my brother had the same playset, except his was He-Man Masters of the Universe.

Hello!  I think I had what you're talking about when I was little.  It was relatively small but sturdy and had various magnets that you could arrange to make a scene.  They were Year 3 ponies--pretty sure they included curly-haired Applejack, Surprise, and Baby Cotton Candy.

Sadly I got rid of mine long long long ago, and I don't think I've seen one here or on eBay, though I'm guessing it's come up before.
Looking for CF Minty, excellent condition! (and maybe Snuzzle and Blue Belle)

Yes that's it! I remember Applejack! Sadly, in a massive spring cleaning session, my mother donated mine to a local day care when I was 9 or 10 without telling me :(

I'm glad so many little ones got to play with it, but I would've preferred getting rid of my barbies!

If anyone has a pic or knows anything about when the sets were released please post! I'd also be interested in knowing if any other 80's cartoon playsets were produced  :P

Is that possibly where my Gusty magnet is from? It is in the far right of this pic, sorry it's so small:

I still have mine.  I've lost the box and some of the magnets, but I know it has baby Moondancer, blossom, cotton candy, apple jack and the yellow cat.

I remember one of these which was more like a book rather than a fold out board game. But I also recall there being a mention of the licensee creating more than one type so I guess they did this as well as the booklet.

The magnets are kind of floppy arent they?

They are hard magnets and I know there were more little critters and I think Firefly and a couple of others.

If they are not the floppy magnets then the book must have been by someone else completely then :)

Awesome picture!

Oh thanks so much juliepinetree!! Wow, I haven't seen this in over 20 years... I remember it being bigger ~ but then again I was only 6 or 7  when I got it :P

I know partypony566!! My mom meant well, but thankfully she knew not to lay a finger on my actual G1 ponies, my care bears or my Jem dolls :) She didn't touch my garbage pail kids cards either... odd, no?
