Glass inside a sealed pony..
« on: July 09, 2013, 07:13:25 PM »
So I have been working on cleaning up my fair goodies.  I had a rain curl that's head was still sealed on, but she rattled and I thought it was a tail washer. Her head was still sealed on, and when I opened her up, her washer is intact and not rusted.  What I found was broken glass instead.  Anyone else ever found anything like that?

Well, now, that is just plain odd! I guess it's possible though. Weirder things have been found inside manufactured products.

Was it really glass?!   I've opened up ponies that rattle expecting loose tail washers only to find chunks of dried glue instead and even kept a piece that was a perfectly formed pony ear for awhile (I think it eventually got crushed and thrown away).  I've also found pieces of plastic - usually from the tail hole but once it fit perfectly inside the neck ring.

I was rather confused when I dumped glass out onto my hand.  Her head was really really hard to get off so I don't think was was re-glued back on. Her tail is still perfect in place.  She looks like she was well loved by someone, as her hair was frizzy as can be (all tamed and in curlers now) and she has some paint missing and your normal dirt.   If only she could talk.

It was definantly glass, sharp and had that shiney edge to it that splintered glass gets.

I would of loved to see the look on your face when you found that piece of glass. :P It's a good thing you didn't cut yourself though. It's strange to think that glass has been in there for over 20 years.

It kind of worries me that there was glass inside of a children's toy. Thank goodness that it didn't hurt anyone. That was definitely one interesting find, lol.

This was my first thought too. :whoa: I can't help but wonder if a piece of equipment broke off during production or something like that, though it seems odd that the factory machines could be glass rather than metal. Thankfully it doesn't sound like whoever well-loved her was ever injured by this, so that's good! And thankfully, you weren't either. Just be careful when you pull it out of the pony and throw it away.

I found a piece of rubber inside a Teeny Tiny Tootsie once. At first I thought it was a piece of Nerds candy, but it had a spiral shape as if it were drilled from another, larger piece of rubber. At the time I was still extremely new to ponies, so I had no idea that this was something not normal. Ewww, and once I found a dead ant in a Sea Pony, but that was definitely from the seller's garage or something.

I once squeezed a sweetheart sisters head and then the body started to rattle.. I decided to cut the head open to see what it was.. And it was almost like thin glass fragments as well. So I think I know what you're talking about. I don't think it's glass, it's thin shattered plastic.

i found that on all my flat foot ponies, it was like they put another heavy weight washer on them to stop them from fulling forward like they usually do :P

Wow! Some bizarre things being found inside ponies! But glass?? Very odd.

Love the double tail!!

I've only found bits of plastic (from tail holes, etc) and broken washers. Nothing out of the ordinary.
