Squishy pony? :(
« on: July 03, 2013, 07:16:27 AM »
G3 Guava Lava came today, who I've wanted for ages! She isn't as in good condition as I thought (marks which weren't mentioned in the description) but the main problem is she feels really squishy! Is there any way I can harden her up?

I hadn't heard of that method! How long should I leave her in for?

Fridge?

This is only a temporary fix because as soon as she warms back up she will be back to her current state.  Sadly, I do not think you can harden her up as this most likely is plastic breakdown or a bad pour on your pony. JMO  If she has been in a really hot environment she might harden up once she is out of heat.  It just sounds like breakdown to me.

Oh dear :( It has been quite hot here the last few days but I doubt that would have affected the pony. I will leave her for a few days afte I've cleaned her up and see if she hardens up. Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately there is not any way to soften her - sometimes plastic just breaks down weirdly or the batch in entirety could have had the same issue back at manufacture.

I am sure she will be fine if she is just out on display, if she starts melting into the shelf...then you need to worry :P

Lol! I did actually imagine her melting into the shelf earlier xD I agree that she should be fine on the shelf so I'm not going to replace her.

Thanks for the offers but I will be keeping my Guava as you won't notice the squishyness when she's on display (unless she does dissolve into the shelf...then I will be right back here ;))

I took Guava off the shelf today to find out her legs are all sticky and she feels even more squishy :/ Maybe she is literally melting! Should I replace her?

If she is sticky it might be a breakdown of the plasticizers, but I thought that made them hard?

For squishy ponies I put clear marbles in the hooves and legs if they for without making them misshapen

Yeah that is odd. O.o It sounds like a plasticizer breakdown but she should be toughening up instead of melting!

That being said, I hadn't even heard of G3's having the same plastic breakdown problems G1's had so this is all a mystery to me.

Me neither :/ I'm guessing I just got unlucky!
