Writing Alternative Back Card Stories
« on: July 01, 2013, 05:46:32 AM »
Today I decided to bring my ponies down to Earth and I've given my herd real-life occupations. It's time they all got a job! I've listed them below and I was wondering if anyone would like to help me to write alternative back card stories? Some of them I have no first hand experience of so I'd love someone else to write something, like a story about my Candy Apple who works at a spooky fairground/carnival.  She has no mane by the way so a hat or costume could be in order. I don't know any astrophysicists either but I'm thinking like a female version of Brian Cox. I also have or am wishing for the following babies that could make an appearance in the stories: Pictures, Blossom, Cotton Candy, Rainribbon, Lucky Leaf, Firefly, Dophijn, Lemon Drop, Applejack

I must admit that Twilight, Glory, Blueberry Baskets, Night Glider, Flutterbye, Star Flower, Trickles, Tickles, Blue Posey, Honeycomb, North Star, Waterlily Birthflower and Seashell are not yet in my collection ha ha but hopefully it's only a matter of time! And I'd love to design alternative back cards for them and any on my wishlist not mentioned here.

What a fun idea! And I laughed when I saw Glory's occupation! Glory is probably my fav pony and dinosaurs have always been my geeky interest

Anyway - I could try and help you, but I don't have much first hand experience with most of these occupations though...

My wantlist - pony wear, backcards & puffy/flat stickers

Looking for Puffy Stickers: Ripple (seapony), Gypsy and Gusty on original backing

hehe, when I was a kid Parasol was a stay-at-home mom, Twilight was a teacher, Masquerade was in the circus and dancing butterflies was a dancer. I guess Windy was probably retired since I saw her a elderly. :slug:

Squee! Yes, please do a Paleontologist! Maybe check out Jenny Clack in  the 'Beautiful Minds' TV series  if that helps... I guess it should be a 1-2 hundred words and it can be aimed at a 14 yo.

Or maybe these:

We need a teacher in there, maybe I'll change hopscotch to 'school teacher'. Windy could be retired and now helps to look after her grandkids!

Such a lovely project that I nonetheless don't want to commit to, as I'm not much of a writer  I'd imagine Wind Whistler the logical pony was the aeronautics engineer, but if you mostly look at her symbol, yes, she could be an instructor in an alternate universe. And wow… I'll never look at Cherries Jubilee the same way again.

Haha  I didn't even see this - but oh my, yes CJ has really changed after this!

And - I can try to write something, but keep in mind that English is not my first language :P Might need to have a grammar check. And also, do you need it right away? I've been on the Arena a lot the last couple of days because I've been ill, but it's back to work tomorrow and then away this weekend without internet.... Just wanted to let you know!

What a cute idea! You have really put some thought into those occupations :)

Good luck creating your back ground stories for them.

I really like Moondancer and Seashell's occupations! I think Moondancer is an independant midwife (the kind that helps you through a home birth) and Seashell lives in a  beautiful "shabby chic" beach house that is often featured in country living ;)

Its funny you say that about CJ, because I have long thought she was a pole dancer! Poor CJ.

When I was a teen, I wrote alternate backcard stories, it was fun! (I'd do it now if I didn't have so much work!)

Hey you're right, do you think I should swap Sky Flier and Wind Whistler? After all, why would Wind Whistler need a Parachute? Plus Aeronautics Engineers have to consider safety so a whistle would fit that too. Thankyou! And for pointing out the other smileys --> :joy:

Also if you do feel like writing anything in English you could PM it to me and I'd be happy to check it before you post if you like - same goes for anyone else as well. But wait a minute, your English is perfect lol, I have proof ;)

Btw my choice for CJ was influenced heavily by the artist known as Prince and some photos I took at a Burlesque themed hen party  (say n' more).

Of course my next job will be painting back card pictures. So excited!

Thank you! That's just how I imagined them too. And don't worry CJ will get to rock some fun outfits!!

Hey, no hurry at all! It's just for fun. As I say, I'd love it if you felt like joining in, please feel free to PM me a draft and I'll check it before you post. Which one are you thinking of doing?

Thank you all! :grouphug:  I'd better go to sleep now but I'll post a story in the next couple of days. Now I have nice things to dream about, yeay!!

How about paragliding for Sky Flier? That would match her symbol about perfectly.

My problem is not language skills, rather that I'm generally a terribly slow writer = results are not to be expected in days, more like weeks. If that's not a problem, I could claim a pony or three depending on which ones you still need.

Its funny you say that about CJ, because I have long thought she was a pole dancer! Poor CJ.

To think of it, cherries are suggestive in the same way as burlesque or pole dancing, so it's more than a logical choice. ;)

OK I'm gonna amend the requisite for aiming these stories at kids. Too much comedy to be missed:
