« on: June 30, 2013, 10:31:36 AM »
I was watering everything this morning and thought id take some pictures. ^^

First here are my guardians :D
Yep I have two of them infront of my salad bed because deer always attack it xD (you can only see one)

My dad made them from me years and years ago out of random farm equipment xD

Not really the best pic, but these are my beans xD i LOOOVE beans so i planted a lot, I also have asparagus, cucumber and peas in this bed lol, the bed in front is all mini pumpkins, acorn/summer squash and zucchini.

The birdbath I made when I was very little actually, by making a hill of dirt, decorating with large stones and pouring cement over it, Iv actually got many of them scattered around the property xD so the birds are always splashing around.

and my herbs, which im quite attached too xD iv had them a few years now, oh and a few rescued tomatoes plants that my mom brought home from work, no one wanted them and they were dying!

Last year my garden was pretty random xD I think its a lot more organized this year, I am only growing things that I know my family and I will eat. :) I also share produce with my neighbors xD it doesn't look like it, but theres SO much o.o

I was very late unfortunately, so im kinda hoping the tomatoes will work out. I just didnt have the money to start it when everyone else is "supposed" to and then someone my mom works with was giving all different types of tomatoe plants away fro free so thats where I got those.

I got all my squash/pumpkins and salad stuff from the farm market and everything else is from seed. I know if anything xD at least my beans will do good, those things will grow like crazy no mater what haha.

Neat. It look very organised with the beds. I adore the birdbath, what a sweet idea to make it that way. I have a small bench on the balcony where I keep roses and some herbs as well. Next year I will try and see if I can grow strawberries. :)

ooh strawberry's <3 I wish I could grow them xD we have a LOT of wild strawberry's that come up every year, unfortunately they only want to grow right at the foot of my deck stairs -_- so i hardly ever see any fruit, but weve also got blueberry and blackberry in the woods to the side of the house ^^

We have plenty of strawberry plants, but we also never see any fruit.. the dogs like to pluck the fruit off the vines before they're even ripe ...
Anyways, your garden looks lovely. :--) It's so nice having fresh veggies and herbs that you grew yourself, they're so much better than the ones from the store!

How lovely and organised :) I have lots of strawberries and I have actually fenced off my garden to stop the dog going to the strawberry bed and eating them all ;) the only other thing thats growing profusely is rosemary. Im gardening on heavy wet clay soil and Im struggling to find things that will grow well. All my neighbours have raised beds, I have not got organised enough to build any yet.

I like your guardian-farm -tools-birds!

Beautiful! I also love your little garden critters. They remind me of the shovel birds in Alice.

Our natural soil is very acidic and sandy, its near imposible for us to grow anything as well, especially grass which is why you dont see much xD. This is why I LOOOOVE my raised beds! most of the dirt I used was just dark soil "fill" that my friend bought over in a tractor, then i added like 4 or 5 bags of actual black soil and something else i cant think of right now xD. everything is organic though, im very prickly about people introducing chemicals into my garden lol.
I wont even let my mom trugreen the lawn xD

What a nice, organized garden! I like it! :) Is your garden difficult to maintain? I tried a garden for awhile, and while I was able to grow some things like carrots and tomatoes, we had a lot of insects destory the plants.

I havent had too much of a problem, honestly my biggest pest are deer xD, im working on designing a frame to build around the boxes, so that I can just throw some netting over it and it wont bother the plants, sun and water can still reach them but the deer cant haha. occasionally ill get some veggies that bugs have munched on but I didnt have too many last year. I use an organic soap sprey that is decent enough at keeping all but the most determined bugs out of my garden xD. Havent bought any yet this year but when I do ill get the name/brand and post it. :)
