Any thrift store is a great resource for fabrics and accessories.

I think a lot of people on here seem to make their own creations from scratch - i.e. purchasing materials and creating their costumes rather than purchasing. Hopefully some people can post you some sources :)

Yes, when I mentioned supplies you may also read it as "materials."

For wigs I get them from a Chinese seller on Amazon. The downside is if you need it quick for a con, you'll get gouged for shipping. Be sure to order AT LEAST two months before the con if you don't want to chance a late wig.

I also use eBay for wigs, you can usually get really nice ones for under $35. If you need other colors in the hair however, I go to a beauty supply store to get hair color clips ins or extensions. Beauty supply  stores also have wig stands, hair dye, nail polish, fake eyelashes... pretty much anything you'd need cosmetic wise.

For the actual costume itself I do a mix of self creations and store bought items. For example it's pretty easy to find colorful shirts that you can alter or paint on, or you can look up sites like welovefine to buy a shirt with a "cutie mark" on it. You can usually also find colorful basics at a lot of clothing stores that you can build off of. And if all else fails I just hit up a fabric store and either try to find a pattern in the store (or online) that will fit what I need, or I wing it and make everything from scratch. There are MANY ways to go about costume making. Usually I'd figure out what you want to go for, and then start by looking for pre-made things you can buy if it's complicated. :)
