Is This Maybe a Factory Curl???

I found a really nice Surprise a few weeks ago a flea market (I need to post about that little find still, oops and her tail was nicely curled like this when I found her. Do you think it might be an original factory curl?? I've never really one so I don't know myself. >___< It's still looks very nice even if it's not!

I wish I could get better pics of it. The curl is nice and tight with only a very few flyaways once in awhile. Very lovely looking.

That does quite look like factory curl! I do not know for sure though, I am sure others will weigh in. Either way, she's lovely!

Hard to tell! I'm pretty sure with surprise though her curls are more separated, then again the only Surprise I have (even with my army lol) with factory curl is a So Soft version, and she has very curly hair that is more separated rather than in one big ringlet.
So Soft and the original release can of course be different so I'm not sure! Either way it's lovely

I don't think so, as mentioned above me, Surprise tends to have more separated curls and not in one ringlet. I don't think one ringlet was very common for factory curls. That ringlet actually look way to nice and soft to me to be a factory curl Factory curls tends to be a little bit more stiff.

I sitll have a few girls in factory curls, but they are a little messy(they came off the card messy, but staying in a box for 15 years in my parents attic probably didn't do them much good either ). But you can see what I mean about the curls in the tails not being one ringlet. But then again, I could be wrong! It's been a while since I saw Surprise newly taken off card - but I *think* she had the separated curls and not a ringlet. She is beautiful though - I'm hoping I'm wrong and that someone else will come a long and tell you otherwise!

I wasn't too sure since most Surprises I've seen have their hair restyled and it's usually straightened.

I'll post a brag thread later today about the other ponies I found along with Surprise! She was definitely my favorite out the group. So nice and white and glittery!

It could well be that someone has brushed out her curls but they have retained enough of a wave to forum a giant curl together. I have seen that happen.

Either way her hair looks fantastic!

I've got some ponies with factory curls that tight so it might be- or like 'cat said someone might have combed it around their finger - to neaten up the curl.

Maybe a bunch of people did the same thing to their ponies?
Perhaps Hasbro changed the way they did the curls mid way through their production... as the ponies pictured earlier in the thread were produced way later than Surprise?

Sure - that might be the case Lovely tails you got there as well! When it comes to factory curls I often find it difficult to tell if they are factory or not, as long as I don't know for sure. Just because it can be hard to tell the difference

I agree with cat and Ivy - that's the way factory curls can look if they've been combed around a finger.
