How much does rehairing affect value?

I agree with kkv... a Greek pony without Greek hair or a Brazil pony without Brazilian hair loses something of the original charm as the hair qualities are very distinct. Donor Nirvana hair is hard to come by and usually notcost efficient, so rehaired will often have a big impact. If bald to begin with, the value was already decreased.

I have a bunch of manky Italians I would consider rehairing, the values are not that extreme to begin with.

They way I see it it's not the rehairing that lowers the value, but the haircut. So if the damage has already been done, why not give a poor pony some new lush hair? It's not going to bump the value back up, but why keep a pony bald just for the sake of it? She's not original condition either way.

If I was looking at purchasing a pony I would be a lot more prone to buy a nice rehair rather than the same pony bald.

Well, I'll put it this way, I would be happy to buy some rehaired Nirvanas and score a deal, while also getting a pony that looks much better. 

To me, it's not original to the pony to have no hair or to have a horrible, horrible haircut.  I'm not okay if the hair is removed and there was enough there to work with or style, but when there's notta or very little, nope, it's time for a rehair.

i rehaired my white italian lemondrop who was completely bald, it made me sad looking at her bald head

I think I'll try fixing her marks but keeping the mohawk. She can be the rebel of the herd.

I have no plans of selling her right now, but I had no idea rehairing affected the value that much. Thanks everyone! I'll keep that in mind if I stumble upon other nirvanas.
