Do Funko ponies "count"?

I'm doing pony inventory and I keep a running count of how many ponies I have in my collection. I do count blind bags and petites, but not plushies or happy meal toys or things like the G1 bobble heads.

I'm not sure on the Funko toys (Dr. Whooves, Fluttershy, D**py/Ditz/whatever). What do you guys think? What about the Pop! ones?

I only really count brushables and fashion ponies.
For me the Funko ponies are more like merchandise. I love them but they aren't really Hasbro products.

I would say it's up to you. However you feel comfortable with them.


That said, I would probably count them under merchandise items, like you keep Happy Meal separate and such. Because although they are real things licensed, they aren't "ponies" in the sense of squishy plastic that you comb the hair on

I count them, but it's your collection.  They aren't made by hasbro, but they are official and they are ponies.  So it can go either way really.

So would the Vinyl Scratch SDCC pony count as a pony to some of you?  It doesn't have brushable hair- but is made by Hasbro...

That's pretty much how I feel, as well.  Other things are like... merchandise.

I agree with this too. However if it's not made by Hasbro, it doesn't count. However I suppose you would count the non brushables that hasbro made.

Usually I go by whether it's made by Hasbro. Even if they make a pony with molded hair like the SDCC exclusive, I think it would count as a pony rather than merchandise. But if it was made by another company, like the McD's ponies, it goes in the merchandise display.

Hmm, but here's a good question, what about those color-your-own ponies Hasbro made: RD, Fluttershy, and Luna? Do they count as ponies or merchandise? They are made by Hasbro, but have molded hair and aren't anything like 'normal' ponies.

I probably wouldn't count her. To me,  brushable manes is what makes a classic MLP toy.
I never counted my G3 ponyville ponies or G1 bully ponies either. It's just a matter of preference really.

I think that's a really personal choice unfortunately - whether you consider something a "pony" or not. For me I dont count any of the vinyls [for me they are merch] but I also wouldnt include blind bags or ponyville - so I am perhaps a little strict
