Cricut help?
« on: June 06, 2013, 03:52:52 PM »
For those of you scrapbookers out there, I have a cricut question. I have a cutting mat with paper stuck to it. It was very thin paper and the mat was new. Any idea how to get it off? I've tried scraping but it takes forever and its removing the stickiness:(

Well, I don't know about in this case but with certain things a bit of water can remove paper stuck to sticky things without removing the sticky.

Ive only ever used it once and I didnt use thin paper.

Depending onthe type of paper, water may work, yes <3  Just be very careful o.o

Try using a baby wipe but be careful though, would hate for you to ruin your mat.

I'd try water as well.

Do you have the Cricut tool kit and spatula?  Those work really well.  If you can get the end of it up with the spatula, you should be able to peel it off very slowly.  I don't think I would use water on it.  It could make it even more of a mess.  Also, there is a way to redo the mats...I will have to look it up but there is a certain glue stick you can use to reapply it and it works like new.

Nessa-I don't have the tool kit and spatula. I've already scraped some off though so I don't think a tool would work. I've never heard of re-doing the mats though. That might help if I remove the stickiness accidentally.

Unfortunately scraping is probably your best bet at this point. Try not to use a lot of pressure to save the stickiness.  Old credit cards are supposed to work; I just use my Cricut scraper which is a bit thicker. New mats can be very tricky this way. I had the same problem when I first got mine but was able to peel rather than scrape. I will have to look up the resticky technique.
