EQ Dolls picture (POSSIBLY prototypes?)

The newest trailer for this features a song about helping Twilight "win the crown" that was stolen from her. This is worrisome, because it really makes it seem like she needs to become prom queen or something in order to save the day. I hope I'm wrong!

Eeeeyup, that is the plot.... Her Elements of Harmony crown ends up in this 'human' world and somehow gets put in place as the crown for the 'fall formal', so Twilight has to become queen of the fall formal dance in order to get her crown back. Wow, gripping.

I feel like we're back in the G3 animation days where the plot of each episode was planning a birthday party or practicing a ballet dance.

doubt I'll ever watch this movie.
The prom theme is an excuse to have dolls with many different outfits "Oh, whatever shall I wear?!"
and they can all sing a song while they try on the dresses.

Hope those dolls get some fancier duds before the big night or Twilight won't stand a chance

I hope these are to scale with the ponies and he get some nicer "Fashion Style" sized ones. I have an idea involving 2 of my favorite things FiM and TF2.

People really need to wait until this movie and these dolls actually get released before judging them so harshly. During G1 we had human dolls, other "mlp animals" and even wierd little spin-offs like "Dream Beauties" and "My little kitty/puppy/bunny". Not sure why people think the concept of "human ponies" is so extreme. As for the school drama, that's nothing new to the MLP line either. "MLP Tales" had plenty of that.

I think the issue is not that there ARE spinoffs, but rather how they are presented. The only dolls G1 had were actual human characters in the show, not humanified ponies. The other animals didn't even show up in the cartoon.
This is for a movie.

The more I hear and see about this movie, the more I am completely unimpressed.  I was expecting SOOOO much more from a FiM movie.  I wouldn't mind if they wanted to put humans into the show, like back in G1, but I really don't like the idea of humanized ponies.  I like My Little Pony precisely because they are ponies.  And the premise just seems really weak.  I was hoping for something more like Rescue at Midnight Castle, but I guess you can't have everything.

The movie is actually looking better than the dolls at this point. The last trailer was enjoyable but these prototypes, without any sense of scale to know what they even compare to, look rather lacking.

Looking at these dolls again, they HAVE to be happy meal prizes. I just can not imagine them being anything else, and we haven't seen MLP McDonald's toys yet this year despite the logo at toy fair....

This is my all time favorite post about these dolls.
I couldn't put my finger on it but that is what they look like.

They are. Shoulders, head and most probably legs - sure that's no Obitsu, but think about Happy Meals Barbies, Ponies and Bratz : a solid bloc of plastic with simple paint and sometimes a strand of hair.

These dolls do look cheap, but not that cheap. Maybe they are aiming to sell them close to 5$ like ponies. (A bad move if you ask me.)

I suppose if you count them not being a solid piece then yes they're jointed, but that's not a stretch for McD's, all the madame Alexander dolls could move their arm legs etc.

Oh yeah that's true, I remember handling one once (...stole her raincoat and tossed the doll) they did have basic joints. Nasty, hard hollow-feeling plastic though.  The supposed prototypes have that slightly mate, rubbery doll look, that's part of what makes me think the material is a few dollars more expensive than McD toys.

I'm not sold on Applejack, but Sunset Shimmer looks amazing. Twilight is somewhere in-between. But hay if I'm not tempted to get the pair just for Sunset Shimmer, and I'm hardly a doll person.
