80's Popples?
« on: May 26, 2013, 12:28:58 PM »
Hi all,

I had a search on here and didn't find much so I thought I'd start a little thread.

I just got an 80's Popple from the car boot sale today. From looking on Ghost of the Doll I've worked out she...he...it (?) is called Party.

Thing is I don't know anything about them other than what I read on GotD. She was pretty beat up, had a rip along the seam of her legs/bottom to the pouch bit and was very filthy :(

So I've sewn up her bottom as best I can (which I'm quite pleased with the results actually ) and thrown her in the wash.

First question: Is it worth anything in particular in terms of a PC? I bought her because I just thought it was super cute, but I hope that I don't ruin her in my cleaning up process.

Secondly: If anyone has one can you tell me if the ears should be sewn onto the head in a fold rather than open and flapping. There is a piece of white thread on the ear and then on the head that makes me think it should be attached somehow, but I can't tell from pictures online.

Thanks for any thoughts ^_^

um.. pics would be great. I have repaired a few popples in my time and I am willing to offer advice but as a price check goes, I have no idea as all my popples are priceless to me

I'll grab a pic of the ear thing I mean in the morning when it's light. Though it's already been through the wash... and totally looks great in that respect now

All my Popples had floppy ears. A friend had Party and I believe she was the same. I miss my Popples....

Ah Popples... I've never had one with the ears sewn down. I just picked up a Puffball a few days ago. As for a PC, not sure, I haven't sold a Popple in 5 or 6 years...

Yes, the ears are sewn in a little "fold" - a dart, if you are familiar with sewing terms.  :)  Congrats on finding her!

I love Popples.  I think it'd be more worth it to clean her up and love her.  :)

I had a Prize popple as a kid and her ears were sewn down with a single white thread. I remember cutting them free. Some of the characters had shorter ears though so I'm not sure all of them were sewn down.
