Re-Haired Fairy Tail Birds [UPDATE 5.26.13]
« on: May 25, 2013, 08:11:35 PM »
Anyone have any photos of rehaired Fairy Tail Birds?  And any suggestions on how to do so?  I have a horribly baity FTB that I want to use as my first victim but I'm not quite sure how to get her opened up without ruining her body.  Suggestions?

UPDATE:
Here is the one I re-haired.  I'm not in love with her but I suppose she turned out much better then what she originally looked like.  She is missing some of her eye paint, has some splotches on her wing, and has cuts in her body near her tail, but at least she has new hair!

The feet are tricky to get off but doable.  I have some done by someone else, but I do not think they have photos.

I have one prepped.  I had to carefully exacto knife around her little plastic foot circle.  That's really the toughest part.

Thanks guys!  Luckily, once I ran her body under hot water her "foot circle" popped right out and I was able to re-hair her with no problems.  I expected it to be quite difficult to pop her feet out but I was lucky.  I'll have to snap a couple of pictures of her tomorrow.

Getting the feet out are much easier than getting them back in without ruining your work, in my experience!

Yeah I need to see this, I'd love to repair some of mine but I didn't want to risk breaking them. I'll have to look around for some baity ones now!

This is the one that I did.  She was initially a filthy, dreadlocked yellow thing.

I wish I had some more to work on, I had so much fun with the one that I did, even if she does have a super simple design.

There is nothing wrong with simple, sometimes it can be harder to pull off.

Both yours and the OP looks great.  I have one here we took the belly fur out of to make her longer and fluffyier.  I need to get shots of the ones we have that came rehaired.
