Big and Small symbol Party Time?
« on: May 23, 2013, 01:04:35 PM »
Here we go again with SunshinePony and her CRAZY variation questions...

But c'mon. Here's my two Party Times:

They're like that on both sides. One has small symbols, one has large symbols.

I've heard of this with like the German Rainbow ponies Nightlight and Raindrop but - is this like, a duel year release thing where it changed or... just something odd? Nothing else is different - hoof stamps are both PP, HK, all normal stamps.

Any thoughts?

I have the same thing with my two Hopscotch! They have the exact same stamps on their hooves, but different symbols and different eyecolours! Whats up with that?!

I just wonder if... maybe after they were stamped on there that one's plastic expanded or something? Causing it to be larger? But it's like the SAME large-ness on both sides. I dunno. Maybe the stampers were worn out and got "larger" as time went on?

But that is SO cool that you have Hopscotch's like that! She's such an awesome pony! I love her! If you have pics I'd love to see them!

That is a weird difference! At first I would say that the eye color might've just been due to fading - I think... Hathorcat... or... gosh, one of the awesome people on here had examples of how the pigments can fade differently... like blue to light blue or light purple... but I don't really understand the size symbol differences!! That's really awesome though - your Hopscotches are beautiful!!

But I am really curious about the Party Times aswell, this all seems so weird to me..

The Party Time is indeed different releases. The Party Pack was released twice across a couple of years and there are some super minor differences between the 2 - mainly Party Times symbol, fat head/thin head flutter, the branding on the float and a change in ribbon colour.

Hopscotch is a fading thing; you can see how she has lost the reddish pigments in her eye, symbol and even body to bleach her out a little.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Awesome! I figured it was a release thing. I suppose I need to really learn how to identify the fat/thin head flutters... and see which ones I have around. I've never really paid attention to that, but... this Party Time will be the start of it! Were they they only two that had differences in their releases Cat? (As far as the Party Pack?) - I mean, Best Wishes is pretty standard, what about Baby Frosting and Celebrate?

I'm so glad someone asked this! I was brushing ponies for the fair this afternoon and noticed 1 of my 4 party times had large symbols. There's also a large/small version of Moonstone. I also have darker blue and lighter blue versions of Bowtie.

I actually knew about the Bowties (I have that var!) - but I had no idea about large and small version Moonstone! That's awesome! I'm going to have to check that out more carefully!
So, was the small version a first release or second release? Does anyone know? :)

Is that why my Wind Drifter and Cloud Puff look funny I wonder? Because their heads are fatter? I thought Wind Drifter had got damaged, her head looks really strange to me, compared to my other flutter ponies anyway. But Cloud Puff's head is a bit weird too.... Good to know there is a logical explanation for their weird heads.  ^.^

1986 I think there were different factories or at least lines - because I've come across many slight symbol size variations in that year - all the BBE's have it - I've seen it in my Speedy's too. in general the smaller symbol is crisper and clearer and the larger size one's are a little more blurry around the edges.

Hrm that's crazy interesting! As mentioned, I thought maybe the stampers got "worn out" and so got "big and fuzzy" - which is silly , obviously a line difference like you mentioned... but I had no idea that it extended to the BBE's and the TE's then I suppose?

So, my next question is did the large version symbol come out with the fat head flutter? Or... how were the releases structured? I haven't checked my YumYum - but I know somewhere there's like... a guide or pictures to identifying your flutters as fat/thin heads? If anyone has that and could post it... I'd be forever grateful!

I remember that about the flutters, though I had it bookmarked but it was on the old computer.  Maybe Dream Valley or the old Collectors site?

That is cool to see, there where at least two G3 with different size symbols as well.
