How do I proceed? (selling a Nirvana)
« on: May 19, 2013, 09:52:28 AM »
So I have the Spanish Piggy that Id like to go to a suited collectors home.

Id like to take offers, but the thing is the shipping from here is totally crazy expensive!
Do I store her until I go to Canada in a year, or do I just "cut my losses"?

Postage is like $12 with no tracking!
If one wants tracking its a whopping $45!!!

Im willing to share the postage with the buyer but its still allot to expect anyone to be willing to pay...

What should I do, just make a thread and see if there is interest or just keep her?

Most of us are used to high shipping prices for Nirvanas. If you're willing to pay half the cost of shipping with tracking I think most people would find the price reasonable. Shipping prices in Canada are still high, but not quite as high as Norway. You will also need to make sure your buyer is prepared to pay import fees based on the pony's real value if applicable. Those fees can get steep for pricier ponies. It is expected that the buyer pay them, but if they're not aware in advance it can be an unpleasant surprise.

I think serious Nirvana collectors know to be prepared for high shipping prices ;) $45 is rather high, but $12 is typical for some countries. That's kind of you to offer to split the shipping cost too, as very few sellers do that. I'd say go ahead and post pictures and a description, and try to figure out a starting/reserve price.

i've paid more than 12$ for shipping ponies. i don't think it's anything to worry about.
of course sharing the cost is generous. but being that piggie are highly desired. i think
any serious collector would pay 12$ for shipping.

Australia probably beats the rest of the world for high postage - I guess that is because we are so far from the rest of the world!
Airmail from Australia to USA has just gone up to $14 per 500g - once you get over that weight it jumps to $29.  Europe- and UK of course - 500g  $18 - over 500g $38!!!!
So I am sure no-one would complain about YOUR postage - and if you are offering to share the cost - bring on your Piggy - I want one!!!!

If you're thinking Canadian shipping will be a lot cheaper, it's gone up! It's like ~$10 for no-tracking or ~$25-$35 with tracking to the US for one pony. It's insured (up to $100?) either way but the cheaper tracking option is gone now. To Australia it's $40-70 with tracking!

I think most places have seen postage go up in the last few years so I'd say don't worry too much about it for a Nirvana.
