Questionable Twilight Sparkle? (not princess)
« on: May 13, 2013, 02:53:50 PM »
I just got a brand new, from amazon, FS Twilight Sparkle. What gets me as the two FS ponies I have (Luna and Fluttershy...even my custom Ditzy Doo) have firm bodies (as in like hard).

The Twilight Sparkle I got in was pretty soft when I got it in. Basically...like this...like some sort of squeeze toy...

Are all of them like that? If not...I think it's because of the head not being screwed on correctly...how do I fix that?

o_o

*runs to my ponies, feels all over FS Twilight*

Hmmm..... mine is definitely not squeezable! She is very firm. I dont know why yours is like that. Poor Twilight Sparkle, you should make a demo! =P I wonder if there is anything you can do to stiffen her up. Freezer?

Her head being screwed on wrong? Wha...?
I don't get that, but it's likly her plastic is just..thinner. I had a second FS Rarity I bought recently who flet thinner and squishier than my first.
Bare in mind I had her sitting next to my laptop's fan that emits heat until I decided to cut her up.

Same thing with G1s, some are just thinner plastic than others.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

Its probably Hasbro being lame, the tend to make their G4's poor quality. Sorry about your Twilight... Maybe she was out in the heat before she came to you?

And with squeezing her...notice how the neck is opening...

That could be it. She could have been sitting in the hot storage, plus they use the same molds

I remember my FS Rarity's plastic feeling very thin, the texture felt similar to a fakies'..

Rarity FS and Twi FS have different body molds. :P

Funny you should mention that, I just found a FS Twilight Sparkle today at a Target I almost never go to.  I noticed when I got her home that she was really soft as well.  Almost squishy.

Yeah the FS Princess Twilight that just came out is squishy!  At least mine is. I noticed when I pulled her out of the package that she was softer than the older ones.....

It probably relates to hasbro cutting back somewhere, using less plastic perhaps?

That is weird. I have a Pinkie Pie that is pretty squishy, too. All of my old ones are stiffer, but she is a new one and squishier. Maybe they switched manufacturers?

I wonder if the softer plastic will break down faster. Does the softer plastic versions feel different apart from the softness? It doesn't feel particularly sticky or rubbery, does it? I'm wondering because I want to collect them myself but not if dust is going to be attracted to them easier.

I haven't had a problem with softer-plastic ponies breaking down.  My Sky Dancer is a lot squishier on one side than the other, and always has been.  It's just a case of thinner or unevenly-distributed plastic.  If mine hasn't broken down and gotten sticky after 25 years, I don't think there's much to fear from FS Twilight Sparkle in that regard. :)

I'm beginning to covet the FS ponies myself, but I don't have any space for them right now...Maybe after I've moved in with my boyfriend and we set up that "doll room"...

Hasbro and their confusing differences :P I agree it will be a different batch, different mix or perhaps even a different supplier. Congrats on adding her to your collection!
