Need help with info on my latest thrift store find!
« on: May 10, 2013, 12:33:29 AM »
I found this Miss Merry mint in box playset at the thrift store the other day. I have never heard of Miss Merry or Merry Toys Manufacturing (who it was made by). The date on it is 1965. Is anyone familiar with these vintage playsets? Also, I'm going to be selling it so I'm trying to get an idea of how much it might be worth =)

I have a older doll from the late 60's or early 70's named Miss Merry (she's about 4 inches tall).  I bet your playset and the doll might have come from some kids toy line or something.  I don't know anything about them though.

That's a really cool playset.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG you are soooooooooooo  lucky!! Those sets are so valuable.  I would say because its mint....maybe 55.00 on the high end.  I am not sure what the later versions do on the collector market.  The earlier ones that have My Merry on them are really collectible and valuable.  These later 60's ones kind of lost a little of their realistic appeal as the company quit using name brands on the toys inside the boxes. Still you are incredibly lucky to have found something in such good shape like that. That is so beautiful. Wow  I really am curious to find out how well you did selling it.  I would buy it in a heart beat, but I am over extended now.  Man I wish I wasn't.

I have never heard of this befor, but I am very curious to know how something like this has been MIB since the sixties? It always surprises me how some toys survive MIB over decades and decades. Maybe this was in somebody's attic.

Does the google machine help at all? Is there maybe a collectors site for these?

@Nana-Rena: No unfortunately google hasn't been any help  :( I spent hours trying to find any info on it that I could and so far I've found nothing.

@tulagirl: Really, these sets are well sought after? Wow looks like this was a good find as I only spent $3 on it!!

I'm going to post it for sale on ebay right now and I'll post the link on here after in case anyone wants to bid/watch the auction =)
