Need Some Pony Hunting Luck, Please!!! UPDATED!

I know you all understand the feeling you get when you are about to take a look in a flea market or yard sale with the anticipation of possibly finding ponies.  Well, I came across someone on Craigslist who had an ad up for a yard sale with toys a couple of weeks back.  I emailed him to find out if he had My Little Ponies and he replied that he has a whole tub of them but doesn't know which generation they are.

To make a long story short, I am going tomorrow to check out what he has.  What got me excited about this is the other toys he had listed in his ad, making me think the ponies may be older:

Star Wars, Batman, Spiderman, X-men, Gi-Joe, He-man, Power Rangers, TMN Turtles, Wreastlers, BRATZ, Barbies, My Little Ponies, Smurfs, Carebears, Thomas The Train, Cars, Toy Story, Disney, Looney Toons, Muppets, Disney Princesses, Trolls, SpongeBob, Cabbage patch dolls, Pokemon cards and Dr Suess books to name a few.

So, I am really hopeful they are G1!!!  Please hope for me and wish me luck!!!

But don't get your hopes up TOO high. I've had many extremely similar situations come up in the past where people told me they had a "whole box" of ponies (especially when they have many other toys they are also selling). They either end up saying "oh someone else JUST bought them all", or they're never able to "find" that particular box when you get there, or if you're lucky only having one or two actual ponies. They tell you what you want to hear so you'll meet with them and hopefully buy a bunch of other stuff that they actually have. Just sayin'. Hope your situation is better than mine have been!

Also, you could ask him to look at the bottom of the feet of the ponies and just tell you what year some are from. Then you'd know if he actually has ponies, and what generation to expect.

Thanks!!!  I'm trying not to hope too much but I can't help it   I never find G1s around here at all.  But, trying to look on the bright side, if it is a bust, it seems like he has other cool stuff to look at.  Plus we are going to the Pony Fair!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you- it sounds like it will be lots of fun, and there might be ponies or accessories hiding in all the other stuff, even if the "box of ponies" turns out to be a McDonald's box of McDonald's ponies.
I'm always worried about letting people know that I'm looking for ponies, especially if I start being specific about what I want. Then I worry that they'll jack up the prices- it had happened to me before!
I also want to try to explain to garage sale people the difference between ebay prices and garage sale prices... but that's a different rant entirely.

So PLEASE be sure to let us know what you find! I'm genuinely excited!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone!!! I will definitely try to get some pics too. He said in his email ponies were a dollar each and some of the other toys were two each so we'll see what happens. I may purchase whatever it is and rescue them lol.

I'll get to find out in about 12 hours lol.
