Whoa, now that's good packing!
« on: May 07, 2013, 06:15:31 AM »
Now this is what I call service! I wish all sellers would be so careful and considerate when packing items. I was so shocked when I opened the box I had to share a pic.

I'm sure we have all had our packing horror stories (burger boxes anyone?) but it's nice to have a happy one for a change!

Somewhere in the world's most amazing, protective, organized packing I ever received is 2 gorgeous Dream Castles, including a Lavender one only missing one purple goblet from what I can tell (anyone have one for sale? LOL) and a pink one missing Majesty (who I have anyway).

Feel free to share you stories, good and bad~!

They need to have a packing tutorial on ebay that all new sellers must read before becoming a member lol. That's awesome though! I just received 2 ponies that shocked me too, they were wrapped in white tissue in a massive ton of bubble wrap and in a big box which was a nice surprise:) Then I have the seller that throws a bunch with next to no packing in a box with pink, black, and green tissue that ruined about 6 ponies:( Princess Moondust was near flawless with stunning pink hair...except for the giant pink stain on her leg now:( One of the worst I can remember though was a small lot sent in a dry laundry detergant box with crystals all over the ponies...at least that was better than ponies that smelled like they were behind a water heater in a basement for 20 years, those gave anyone who smelled them a headache in minutes:/

Good story: I bought a MOC G1 Rainbow baby from a seller in Greece, and because of the long distance I was worried about possible damage to the (absolutely perfect) card.  Well, the pony arrived in a sturdy box wrapped several times in bubble wrap; the pony was totally protected, and there was no room for it to move around in the box.

Bad stories: I won two MOC My Pretty Mermaids from Europe, and although they did arrive packed with peanuts, the cards were bent pretty badly from moving around in the box and I had to decard them. I also bought a few MOC G3 Valentine ponies from a seller on ebay, and they arrived in a box with absolutely no padding whatsoever; they weren't wrapped or anything, just thrown in the box.  Miraculously, three made it ok, but one of the cards was bent pretty badly.

Reminds me of the time I got a secret surprise pony from the UK and she arrived wrapped in a sheet of bubblewrap big enough to be used as a blanket :silly: My cats were thoroughly entertained for many hours thanks to that.

Bad story:   I bought a large NRFB Brazil Strawberry Shortcake blow kiss doll from Brazil-  I have never seen such a beautiful perfect box.  They mailed it to me after WRAPPING IT IN PAPER.  Needless to say, the ultra thin-fragile cardboard was utterly destroyed.

Good story:  I bought a couple ponies from Darkhorse - and not only were the ponies carefully wrapped in bubbles, they were placed in these carefully crafted cocoons of bubbles! It was amazing-   I was very grateful because a prior sculpted pony purchase was broken in many pieces, even with some bubble wrap. :(

Whoa, there's TWO Dream Castles in there? That must be a huge box! :O

I recently did a trade with nsunshine here. She sent me maybe 10-12 ponies and they were all individually wrapped in bubble wrap! Not only were they well protected, but it was so fun opening each one and seeing who was in there. =D

I honestly don't have any horror stories to share though, thank goodness.

I have a good story!!

When I bought my first Glittering Gem from ebay, I wasn't expecting a whole lot, seeing as how there was a thread about the seller and she was striking everyone as suspicious... But she came to me carefully packed in layer after layer of packaging.

First, the pony's legs were held in place with styrofoam, so she wouldn't get smooshed and become pigeon toed. Then she was wrapped all up in plastic wrap and rubber bands and packing tape. Then there was bubble wrap, then a bubble envelope, then another envelope! The seller took great care to make sure the pony reached me safely. I was just amazed unpacking her.

The worst I had was an ebay seller who used a 2nd hand bubble mailer and didn't seal it up properly. One of my ponies got loose

Fortunately having put a notice on my door asking the postmen to check their bags for a loose pony, one of the post ladies came to my door with the pony  :thumb:
