Lovely little Goldilocks pranced into my life!

I was so happy to find my dream pony recently! As I mentioned in my introduction thread, I don't plan to increase my small pony family a great deal because my hobbies are scattered to a wide variety of dolls and toys. That's why I'm only adding a few ponies to my collection (for now).

Most of my MLP collection consists of very well loved and played with G1 ponies from my childhood in the 80's and early 90's. After cleaning my room at my mom's house and coming across many of my old ponies, I realized that I'd love to try to pick up the hobby now as an adult. I'm focusing mostly on acquiring G1 ponies I never owned as a child. And now that I'm older, my tastes and goals as a collector have slightly changed; I now crave all toys that are in perfect condition when it comes to all of my collections! I find the challenge both thrilling and aggravating at the same time. 

Goldilocks was the main pony on my wish list that I really dreamed of getting someday. I was dying to have one with perfect original ringlets, blush, eyes and symbol-- and every other detail needed to be just right. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a mint in package Goldilocks pop up on eBay a few weeks ago. I lost out on the Goldilocks auction the first time she was listed, but the buyer ended up not paying so I had another chance to bid on her when the seller relisted her. It seemed like fate. I knew that second time around that she had to be mine.

I feel as though Goldilocks prances around all day, saying, "Oh, these curls? They're all NATURAL!" Haha, my little pony dream either has a very sweet sense of humor, or a rather big head.  A more detailed story about Goldilocks' arrival can be read on my website's blog.

And here she was, wrapped in her plastic packaging with her original brush and ribbon. I spent a long while primping her ringlets and giving her lots of attention. She needed some extra love after being wrapped up for so long.

Thank you so much! Yes, that's her original bag.  She was a mail order pony so she didn't have any super pretty packaging.

Opening her up was fun and scary at the same time. My husband even commented as I cut open the bag, "You're a collector's worst nightmare!" I thought that was pretty funny, haha. As with all my toys though, Goldilocks will be receiving the utmost care and treatment as a member of my toy family! I want to preserve her "new" condition.

Oh yes, I did! I always make sure to keep the packaging for my toys (especially vintage ones), so rest assured that Goldilocks will always have her wrapping nearby, even if she isn't inside it at the moment.  Her original brush is sitting safely inside the packaging as well.

On a side note, I have to admit that Goldilocks was the most difficult toy I've ever had to take out of her package. She looked so pretty, even wrapped up in plastic. Still, no regrets. I feel like she's even prettier on display. She's such eye candy.

Haha! I just about always unbox my toys, otherwise I feel like I can't fully enjoy them, especially when it comes to photographing them.

You know, that's a good idea. I'll have to try to get my collection all in one place for a nice group photo. The most difficult part is going to be wrangling them together. They're all still quite scattered at my mom's house.

Oh gosh, yes. The photographer in me can't handle storing away such beautiful toys like Goldilocks. Her vibrant pinks and golds make her extra special and fun to photograph in pretty green surroundings.
