Heres mine all dried, it is way too much white to pull out every strand. Lucky for this project this will go fine. But what about the other hair I had plans for. Hope to hear a solution soon. Im so glad you shared this with us CSA and Glad I knew it was going to happen before trying it myself also. So have to plan projects that will suit white streaks in dyed hair now...

The white streaks are pretty in yours too Saja. It really makes for a lovely effect but it's really a problem if the hair won't dye properly anymore.

I wonder if other colors have been effected. I had an issue getting Oyster Shell to hold a curl recently (all the colors haired with it curled fine), but didn't think too much of it at the time. I wonder if it'll take dye....

Are these all hanks you guys have gotten recently? Specifically, are these the smaller hanks or the "around 16g" (or whatever it is) ones after all that? I'm asking because I would test some to help, but the newest hanks I have are the small ones. Haven't ordered anything since then.

Wow, I LOVE your dye job... I can see why you're irritated, it is so strange that some strands didn't take at all! But... seriously it's to die for!

Alrighty, Tina successfully dyed her current stock of Virgin Snow, she hasn't replicated the problem yet, but she did try and sent me pics of streakless hair.  I linked her here to see that others have the problem.  I'm guessing the hanks I used are maybe a month old, if that?

I had the same problem as you did - with newer stock - like around the time the new colors came in - only with the virgin snow - but that was all i bought from her to dye - I buy my matte white (siberia) from RDUS cause it is longer. I did a burn test on the white that didn't dye and it burned like nylon. I think it may be some kind of coating on it that doesn't come out with washing or boiling water. It may be that it was just on the top most layers (like a protective spray for shipping purposes) and that is why tina cannot duplicate it.

Hm, that might make sense. Has anyone received any virgin snow VERY recently that could try to dye some?
